Eddie Egan
Eddie Egan (1930-1995) was a former NYPD Detective whom the character of "Popeye" Doyle in The French Connection is based upon. Egan would take on the role of Captain Walt Simonson for the movie. He would later appear in the filmPrime Cut and such series as Police Story and Mannix.
