The Big Combo was filmed in 1955 with Cornel Wilde playing police detective Leonard Diamond who has two dangerous obsessions. A reckless, hell-bent crusade to bring down smooth and sadistic gangster Mr. Brown played by Richard Conte. The other is an isatiable desire for good girl gone bad Susan Lowell who is Mr. Brown's captive lover. Meanwhile, Brown's lieutenant McClure played by Brian Donlevy plots with cruel hoods Fante and Mingo to overthrow their boss. In Brown's world however, defections and disloyalty are punishable by cruel and unusual deaths.
