The following guns were used by the United States Armed Forces
M1 Garand
This weapon is used by all the Marines in the movie including Corporal Harlon Block (Benjamin Walker), Private First Classes Ralph "Iggy" Ignatowski (Jamie Bell) and Franklin Sousley (Joseph Cross), and Sergeant Hank Hansen (Paul Walker).
M1 Carbine
The M1 Carbine is seen used by Marines like Sergeant Mike Strank (Barry Pepper) and Private First Class Ira Hayes (Adam Beach).
Browning Automatic Rifle
The Browning Automatic Rifle or B.A.R. is seen used by a Marine, after being ordered to by Harlon Block, to kill the Machine gunner in the Ambush scene. It is also used by several Marines during the initial invasion.
Browning M1919
The Browning M1919 or .30 cal is seen used by Marines in the Beach scene.
Browning M2
The Browning M2 or .50 cal is seen being used by a Marine on an LVT to shoot at Mount Suribachi.
Thompson M1A1
The Thompson is seen used by a Marine to shoot into the pillbox during the beach scene.
M17 Rifle Grenade
The M17 is a fragmentation grenade that is shot from the end of a rifle. It is seen used by a Marine during the beach scene.
M2A1-7 Flamethrower
a portable Flamethrower used by and infantryman. As a range of about 30 meters and a burntime of 7 seconds. This is used by Corporal Charles W. Lindberg (Alessandro Mastrobuono) to burn a pillbox during the beach scene.
Mark 2 Fragmentation Hand Grenade
This is used by a Marine to try and clear a pillbox.

Type 92 Heavy Machine Gun
The "woodpecker" is seen mounted inside the pillboxes.
Type 99 Light Machine Gun
This weapon is seen used in the pillboxes and in the ambush scene.
Type 99 Rifle
This weapon is used by the Ambushing IJA (Imperial Japanese Army) troops during the first flag raising.
Type 94
Ira Hayes (Adam Beach) goes into a tunnel and finds it in it's holster lying by several dead Japanese soldiers.
