Brother 2 (Brat 2) (2000) is a Russian film. It is the sequel to the groundbreaking 1997 post-Soviet crime film Brother (Brat). The story takes place about a year after the events that occurred in the first film. Having arrived to Moscow, Danila meets up with comrades from his army days and together they participate in the shooting of a telecast devoted to heroes of the Chechen war. Afterward, Danila's friend Konstantin tells him about a problem which has befallen his twin-brother, Dmitry, a hockey player for the American NHL. Konstantin reveals that a dishonest American businessman named Manis has ensnared Dmitry within an exploitative contract deal, which gives Manis all of the money that Dmitry earns from playing hockey. Konstantin says that he will ask his boss, Belkin, who is the head of the bank, to talk with the American. After a meeting with Belkin, Konstantin gets killed by Belkin's excessively zealous assistants, which is due to their misinterpretation of his instructions. (He told them to simply sort out the problem with Konstantin.) In the meantime, Viktor, Danila's elder brother, comes to Moscow. Danila decides to avenge the death of his friend, Konstantin, so he asks Viktor to help him. Carrying out the last will of Konstantin, they travel to America to punish Manis the American, return the stolen money to Konstantin's brother, (who is more scared now than anything) and to restore a 'truth' which Danila believes in, which nobody else seems to understand.
Danila's new girlfriend in Chicago, a street hooker named Dasha, arranges a meeting for him with an illegal gun dealer. Since Danila knows that he has no money to pay for the guns, he decides to rob the gun dealer instead. Danila prepares for his meeting with the handmade pistol dealer by building a muzzle-loading, hand-made pistol, which he improvises from materials that he finds on a construction site. In Soviet Union and Russia, such firearms is slangly called "podzhiga" (igniting), and its were widely used by various petty criminals from 1970 till 2000 and, even, later.

Danila's first gun in the movie was a MP38. He got it from the Fascist. Danila uses this sound-suppressed submachine gun to fire upon the gangsters who are watching for him at the entrance of Irina's house.
It is hard to notice, but at the very beginning of the movie, a security guard in Ostankino TV center is seen carrying PP-91 submachine gun with folded stock. We get to see only the front part.

An AKS-74U is first seen in one of Belkin's henchmen's hands, who are waiting for Danila at the entrance of Irina's house. It is used later by one of the thugs during the car chase.
During Viktor and Danila's first conversation in a museum, Viktor notices a Maxim M1910/30 machine gun standing on the table. Expressing admiration, Viktor says a few words about it. Subsequently, Viktor suggests to take the machine gun with them. During the pursuit, Viktor engages the pursuers' car with this machine gun.
