Custom LeMat

The Man in Black's (Ed Harris) LeMat revolver is seen extensively in S1E02, and is proven to be a customized cartridge-firing model rather than a percussion black-powder weapon. The Man in Black is seen reloading his LeMet by breaking the weapon in half (the barrel and cylinder assembly from the frame), showing that the pistol has a cartridge cylinder similar to those produced by reproduction companies such as Uberti and Pietta (See picture below. While this type of conversion wasn't existent in the Old West, the film takes place in a futuristic theme park. That being said, this conversion isn't technically an anachronism). The Man in Black loads the revolver with what appear to be .38 Short Colt cartridges, as well as a long, brass shotgun shell (appears to be around a 20 gauge) in the underbarrel shotgun. He is then seen firing the revolver on the normal cylinders, but also flipping the switch on the hammer and firing the shotgun. (To my knowledge, this type of conversion (not to mention the amount of detail seen loading and firing) has never been seen on screen).

Also, interestingly enough, it appears that The Man in Black carries an entire second barrel/cylinder assembly in a holster mounted on his belt behind the holster for the full pistol. While the purpose of this has not yet been demonstrated, it can be assumed that it is meant to be a quicker reload than the one demonstrated in this episode. --Caldwellb734 (talk) 03:58, 8 October 2016 (EDT)

Although I do not know what it is, I believe that this type of LeMat replica (with Cooper style conversion) has appeared in media before. In Firefly Jayne carries a custom dressed up LeMat, which if you look at has the same cartridge conversion cylinder. The only people who I can find who have ever done a conversion like this are Kirst Konverter, but they definitely didn't make the original one used in Firefly as the reason they started making them was because somebody wanted a replica of the Firefly gun. These still use a percussion shotgun though, so my guess is that the one in the show may not actually be able to fire a shotgun cartridge like that but it is instead just a dummy round for the reload. --commando552 (talk) 19:56, 10 October 2016 (EDT)
Thank you for the information! I've been very eager to learn more about this gun! --Caldwellb734 (talk) 00:24, 11 October 2016 (EDT)

The Man in Black (Ed Harris) sits with his revolver holstered (S1E02). Note what appears to be an entire second barrel/cylinder assembly (circled in red) behind the primary holster.

An excellent shot of the 9-round LeMat cylinder with the shotgun barrel that doubles as the cylinder rod. .38 SHORT COLT can be read on the cartridges.

The brass shotgun shell is seen before being loaded into the pistol (appears to be around a 20 gauge).

The Man in Black reloads his revolver, which requires him breaking down the weapon. Note the cartridge cylinder, the main part of which is still mounted on the barrel assembly, and the "cap" lays adjacent to it on the table.

A cartridge cylinder for a reproduction Remington 1858 for comparison (photo from Taylor's & Co. website). There is no such cylinder mass-produced for a LeMat-style revolver.

The Man in Black raises his pistol, giving a perfect view of the LeMat. Note the custom cylinder and that, despite the fact that the weapon has been converted, the ramrod is still attached.

The Man in Black demonstrates the LeMat's obvious advantage over other standard six-shooters by firing 9 rounds of .38 Short Colt, as well as the shotgun barrel.

Also, this is interesting.--Quarax (talk) 15:43, 18 October 2016 (EDT)
That's really cool that Forgotten Weapons used my screenshots! --Caldwellb734 (talk) 22:56, 18 October 2016 (EDT)

p90tr

Pretty sure the security team had p90tr's when you first see Anthony Hopkins.Temp89 (talk)

Yes, I noticed them too. I also concur with your assessment that they're the TR model. The lower-back half of the weapons are painted red, and they seem to be the standard-issue primary weapon for the Westworld security team. It's unclear if they're being used as actual P90s or acting as scifi laserarms of some sort (a common practice with the P90 in many scifi movies and TV shows). --Caldwellb734 (talk) 16:45, 8 October 2016 (EDT)

The Westworld security force loads up in "The Original" (S1E01). Note the tactical rails, mounted flashlight, and curious red paint job.

I always find it kinda funny that everyone points out if a flat M4 has no sights on the rail, but nobody ever points on the rail P90 has no sights ever. Excalibur01 (talk) 10:55, 11 October 2016 (EDT)

Although I doubt most of the people who do this know it, the P90TR actually has fixed back up iron sights built into the rail. You can see the front sight blade in the stock image, it is the thing that looks like the front rail section but is shorter than the rest. The rear notch is built into the back rail. This has nothing on the regular P90 though, that actually has two sets of back up irons as it has one either side of the red dot. --commando552 (talk) 13:05, 11 October 2016 (EDT)

A pass on anything anachronistic

Since this show takes place in a sort of old west simulation playground with future tech, any hints of anachronisms should be brushed off, I believe. I think the theme park aspect was meant to boast the look of the old west but not entirely 100% accuracy. Excalibur01 (talk) 16:08, 18 October 2016 (EDT)

I agree with this assessment. On another note, maybe since there are vastly different weapons in the park and the "real world," should there be different sections for them? (Akin to Axis and Allied weapons sections in some video game pages) --Caldwellb734 (talk) 23:00, 18 October 2016 (EDT)
I think that complicates things. If the show starts having a LOT of different guns, then maybe, but I think for now, we should just keep the basic format. Excalibur01 (talk) 11:12, 19 October 2016 (EDT)
