In the Line of Duty: Manhunt in the Dakotas (alternate title: Midnight Murders) is a 1991 NBC TV movie based on the real-life manhunt for Gordon Kahl after he killed two U.S. Marshals in North Dakota in 1983. The movie stars Rod Steiger as Kahl, and Michael Gross as Richard Mayberly, the federal agent sent to hunt him down.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Kenneth Muir draws a Taurus Model 66 while attempting to arrest Gordon Kahl outside of Medina, North Dakota. FBI Agent James Blasingame (J. Don Ferguson) also uses a Model 66 as his duty sidearm.

Smithville, Arkansas sheriff Gene Matthews (David Dwyer) carries what appears to be a stainless steel Taurus Model 689 as his sidearm in the finale when he enters the home that Kahl is holed up in.
