Girls Und Panzer is an anime series taking place in alternate reality where tankery has become a form of sport. Sensha-dō, meaning the "way of the tank", has risen in popularity among women and has been running since the 1920s. Enter Miho Nishizumi, a new transfer student to the Ōarai Girls' Academy. Coming from a family of distinguished Sensha-dō tradition, she transfers to Ōarai, a school not having practised the sport in 20 years, to escape from tankery due to a past event, only for the school to bring back their Sensha-dō program and her two new friends, Saori Takebe and Hana Isuzu, to become very interested in it.
Despite her reasons to leave Sensha-dō, she agrees to attend when urged by the student council and touched by her friends' faith in her. Along the way, Miho picks up Yukari Akiyama and Mako Reizei as friends too. The Ōarai Sensha-dō group then began to salvage tanks left behind by the previously established Sensha-dō organization. After restoring a Panzer 38(t), a Type 89 I-Go, a Stug III, a M3 Lee, and a Panzer IV, the Ōarai Sensha-dō group are organized into teams to begin their competitive lives in the Sensha-dō community, with Miho as the team leader due to her experience.
Miho and her friends use the Panzer IV with her as the commander, Saori as the communicator, Hana as the gunner, Yukari as the loader, and Mako as the driver. With the team organized, the biggest challenge now awaits Miho: bringing the no-name school of Ōarai into the championship of the 63rd National High School Sensha-dō Tournament against other high-tier schools!
The following weapons were used in the anime series Girl Und Panzer:
Rabbit Team watches Kelly's Heroes before the Sensha-dō tournament final. The box cover has soldiers holding M1 Thompsons.
PPSh-41
During Yukari and Erwin's discussion of winter boots, a Red Army soldier holding a PPSh-41 is shown.
Rifles
Karabiner 98k
During the same discussion of winter boots, Wehrmacht soldiers are seen marching with Karabiner 98ks.
M16 rifle series
While Yukari tells Erwin a story about a joint the JSDF / US military exercise, US soldiers are seen with a variant of the M16 rifle series. As an aside, Erwin is Hippo Team's (co-)commander and radio operator, however their team doesn't make any further appearance on this page, as their Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) has no firearms.
AK-47
In an explanation of the American MREs, Yukari is showing why the MREs are called "Meals Rejected by the Enemy", with soldiers holding stockless AK-47s.
Unknown Assault Rifle
In an explanation of military rations, one scene shows soldiers eating with two holding assault rifles. Though, not enough details seem to shown to make out the exact kind.
Machine Guns
MG34
The WWII German tanks appearing in the series are all equipped with coaxial and hull mounted MG34s. Anglerfish Team's Panzer IV has the stocks of the MG34s removed. Kuromorimine Girls High School all-German tank force (Tiger I, Tiger II, Panthers, JagdPanther, etc.) all have tank-mounted MG34s as well.
ZB-53
Turtle Team's Panzer 38(t) is equipped with two ZB-53 machine guns before being upgraded in Episode 10. St. Gloriana Girls Academy's tanks, which are the British Matilda II and Churchill Mk.IV, uses the Besa Machine Gun variants of the ZB-53.
Browning M1919A4
Rabbit Team's American M3 Lee tank is equipped with Browning M1919A4s. Saunders University High School exclusively uses American Sherman tanks armed with M1919A4 machine guns on bow and coaxial.
Type 91 Tank Machine Gun
Duck Team's Japanese Type 89 I-Go Tank is equipped with two Type 91 machine guns (modified Type 11 machine guns for tanks)
Pravda High School's Soviet tanks, the T-34/76, T-34-85, IS-2, and KV-2, are all equipped with a Degtyaryov DT as a secondary weapon.
Reibel machine gun
Mallard Team's French Char B1 bis tank is equipped with a Reibel Machine Gun as a secondary weapon.
Bren gun
An armored personnel carrier for St. Gloriana's Darjeeling and Orange Pekoe is seen with a Bren gun mounted on it.
Breda Modello 38
Anzio High School's tanks, which are the Italian L3/35, the Semovente 75/18, and the Carro Armato P40, are equipped with the Breda Modello 38 as their machine guns. The Semoventes do not have their top-mounted machine guns though, and the L3/35 uses the Breda as its main armament.
A Polish 7TP tank is seen with two Ckm wz.30, one for each of its two turrets. It's not exactly clear what use a tank whose only armament is machine guns would be against other tanks.
Maxim MG08
A German A7V tank appears during an introductory video of Sensha-dō with Maxim MG08 machine guns seen on it.
Hotchkiss Mk.I
A British Medium Mark A Whippet tank appears during an introductory video of Sensha-dō with Hotchkiss Mk.I machineguns seen on it.
Lewis Gun
A British Mark IV tank appears during an introductory video of Sensha-dō with a Lewis Gun seen on it.
