Movie fault!!- it should be noted that the hammer is down before she shoots Darquandier, incorrect for a 1911 which is traditionally single action only.

The right appeletation varies from model to model. The general term used is 2011 (derived from the evolution of a 1911). It is basically a double stacked 1911, allowing more than 7 bullets to be stored in the magazine, hence the nickname "hicapa". - There is also an airsoft company that sells this 1911 style weapon with the product name "Hi Capa" on the grip. I have one.
The specific hybrid slide setup is not uncommon for a precision shooting pistol, although it is usually only the top of the slide that is cut.
