My Rules
Chuck
In the future, when adding screenshots, please crop the black bars off before uploading. Also, please be specific about what episode a weapon you're describing was in. Namely, the apartment sofa armory is from what season and what's the episode name. Also, try to keep your comments in the captions to have some kind of relation to the screencap other than just a quote. --Ben41 22:05, 13 October 2011 (CDT) Thank You for the tips! I am a relatively new user and every little bit helps!
Burn Notice
Some of the production stills you uploaded for Burn Notice have a red border around them that needs to be cropped out. Please crop and reupload. --Ben41 17:15, 14 October 2011 (CDT)
K. I cropped and reuploaded the ones with black bars. I will start working on the red bars.
Burn Notice Production Stills
A lot of the screenshots you've uploaded for the Burn Notice page are in fact production stills that are not of uniform dimension and sometimes do not display the weapon prominently. Due to the already large amount of screenshots already on this page, please limit your screenshots to actual stills from the show that display the weapon in a different way than what's already there (such as a scope, shell holder or laser sight fitted on the weapon). Some of these shots therefore will be moved to the discussion page. --Ben41 17:48, 14 October 2011 (CDT)
Hey so I cropped the red lines off one of the images, and tried to upload a new version, but it won't allow me to. It just is the same image over and over. plus if I try to upload it as a different file, it says its a duplicate, which it is but without the red bars... thank you screenshot snipping tool fml >:/
Production Stills vs Screenshots
You're doing the same thing for Chuck as you did for Burn Notice. These appear to be production stills (photographs taken during filming) as opposed to actual screenshots taken from an aired episode. Because these production stills are generally have odd dimensions and causes the page to look awkward, please limit the number of production stills and specify that the image is a production still in the caption (ex. A production still shows Chuck holding the weapon.) Please in the future, try to upload more screenshots instead of production stills (unless the production still shows the weapon more clearly). Also, please upload the entire frame of the screenshot and not just a closeup such as of the trank guns (again because the dimensions will be off). --Ben41 02:31, 19 October 2011 (CDT)
OK thank you :) --Sergei Titov 20:19, 21 October 2011 (CDT)
Do you guys use DVD's / blu rays to get your screen caps? Because whenever I try to get ones from online streaming (like Hulu) the quality sucks... That's why I lean towards promo images because the photographer uses a flash that lights up the gun nicely whereas bad quality shot + low light filming = failure --Sergei Titov 21:30, 21 October 2011 (CDT)
Yes, DVD's, blu-rays and HDTV broadcasts are the best sources for television shows. Netflix is a better streaming source than Hulu because they often have the newer shows in HD. You can use a screencapture program like Fast Stone Image Viewer to capture sections of what's on your computer screen and then use the enhancement tools to brighten and sharpen the image. If you don't have these resources, I would ask that instead of more production stills, that you just reference the weapon on the page with a lot of detail regarding when the weapon was used and what episode (Season, title, and episode name would be greatly appreciated). Then one of the other users such as myself and others can put the screenshot up. --Ben41 01:42, 22 October 2011 (CDT)
Please no Cyrillic and screenshot limits
1. Due to the site being in English, cyrillic script is not allowed. Many computers cannot read this font and it appears as gibberish when seen. It could also be mistaken for spam and could be deleted. Please, english only on the site.
2. Please limit the amount of screenshots for one particular weapon. You've added a bunch of screenshots to the Chuck for the 5906, when there were already several of them.
3. Please avoid screenshots that have watermarks other than the network logo. It's obvious that several of the screenshots you uploaded were from a particular fan site. Although they were also screenshots from the episodes, we do our best to put up our own work and not just take someone else's.
Please take a look at the Rules, Standards and Principles page for some more guidelines. --Ben41 00:51, 23 October 2011 (CDT)
Replacing Screenshots
When overwriting a screenshot, you need to change the "500px" to "501px" in order to see the difference. Also, we limit the number of screenshots for one gun to 10. The preferred screenshots have no logos or watermarks on them. Please also limit your shots to ones that show off a difference of the gun, such as it having a suppressor or the gun in closeup.
Also, I changed the resolution of production stills on purpose (to make them different from screenshots), so please do not change them. --Ben41 02:22, 26 October 2011 (CDT)
Chuck Screenshots
Since I have the entire series on DVD, I'm most likely going to replace your screenshots since these all still have the NBC logo on the left. Instead of you going through the trouble of uploading screenshots in the future, are you there any other weapons that you were planning to upload? Just let me know and I'll put up the screenshot. --Ben41 20:47, 27 October 2011 (CDT)
Just got ur message, I added a few with the logo so sorry :( but I was about to upload a pic of sarah shooting the grappling pistol in "Chuck versus the Seduction Impossible" --Сергей Титов, Sergei Titov 20:52, 27 October 2011 (CDT)
You're not restricted, but it's preferred that users do their own screen captures. The ones you uploaded are just cropped versions of ones that are available from that site and the DVD's and HD versions are much better and cleaner. If you want to point out what episodes have weapons that are missed, than I would put that on the discussion page. Details such as what episode and season they're from are also good to include. --Ben41
Now I'm asking you to stop
Most of the screenshots for Chuck you've just uploaded are either weapons that already have a lot of representation (no more Sarah 5906 shots!) or don't show anything new about the weapon. If there was a variant on the weapon or another character was holding the weapon, there might be a reason for a new screenshot. As for now, your screenshots are just repetitive and make the already long page more difficult to navigate.
I'm in the process of adding a lot more shots to the page, so please do NOT upload any more screenshots for Chuck unless there's a brand new weapon that's already listed on the page. Also, do NOT replace any of the shots I've uploaded unless you have a HD version of the shot.
I'm asking you this nicely, but if you continue on, I may be forced to place your privileges on temporary hold. --Ben41 23:10, 27 October 2011 (CDT)
K, I'm sorry :( I have a tendency to overdo things. I just replaced one of the 5906 shots with one that showed it better from a dif episode (the one from cougars one almost completely blacked out), i added the glocks cuz.. watev I guess you can delete them or move them. I only replaced the one shot u had of rafe with a p229 cuz mine was a closer up. Sorry --Сергей Титов, Sergei Titov 23:13, 27 October 2011 (CDT)
Hawaii Five-0 Taurus
If you had looked at the discussion page for season 1, you would have seen that there were already the exact same screenshots and a weapon pic already uploaded. There was much debate about whether this was a Taurus so that's why it was not put on the page yet. When you uploaded your pics, you didn't get a warning that this was a duplicated file? --Ben41 14:25, 29 October 2011 (CDT)
I know, I found that odd too. I looked on the Discussion page and I didn't find the pictures. the whole debate about the pistol wasn't there so I assumed it was settled or deleted? Thx for adding the jericho and usps from Zoom!! --Сергей Титов, Sergei Titov 14:57, 29 October 2011 (CDT)
Chuck "Versus" against "Vs."
When adding episode titles for Chuck, please spell out "Versus" instead of using the abbreviation "Vs." since this is the official way the episode is named (as seen on the DVD materials). This is also to match the style of the rest of the page. --Ben41 19:18, 2 November 2011 (CDT)
Actually there is nothing in the rules, standards, and principals about that. So forget what Ben41 stated.
Who said that ^ ? --Сергей Титов, Sergei Titov 20:03, 2 November 2011 (CDT)
K I checked it was Eviltim... --Сергей Титов, Sergei Titov 20:07, 2 November 2011 (CDT)
This is a troll who has been abusing several accounts using similarly written user names. It's being dealt with. --Ben41 21:12, 2 November 2011 (CDT)
Chuck discussion page
There was a previously banned user who had been vandalizing that discussion page, so that's why it was restricted. It's been lifted for now --Ben41 19:58, 5 November 2011 (CDT)
- It seems he's also taken to impersonating admins on your talk page here. If someone who appears to be an admin sends you a message, click their name and then "user contributions" in the sidebar. All real admins will have hundreds of edits, if there's only a few then disregard the message and delete it. Evil Tim 21:22, 5 November 2011 (CDT)
Chuck - New Episodes
The new episode of Chuck has not even aired yet in some parts of the United States, and you're already putting up screenshots! In the future, please wait at least until the next day to put up new shots as to avoid spoilers. Also, high definition shots are preferable. --Ben41 21:42, 23 December 2011 (CST)
Sorry I'm on top of things? The header warns that it contains spoilers, and they are HD shots: 1,637×925 (53 KB) they just have the NBC logo. --Сергей Титов, Sergei Titov 17:27, 24 December 2011 (CST)
The shots are from the episode recorded on my computer. I'm not somehow watching the episode before it airs... Although if you know how to, please let me know hehe :P It usually takes me 1-3 hours after the episode airs to add all of the screenshots from it depending on how many different weapons were used. --Сергей Титов, Sergei Titov 22:05, 30 December 2011 (CST)
- I'm splitting the series up into separate pages for each seasons. Chuck - Season 5 will be first and so add new entries for the season there and add any weapons that were missed previously here as well. I would recommend that you hold off at least 3 hours after you've watched the new episode before uploading new screenshots (this will account for the time difference across the country). --Ben41 18:11, 3 January 2012 (CST)
Thank you for splitting :) ahhhhhhhh so much work to do for missed weapons ;) --Сергей Титов, Sergei Titov 17:05, 5 January 2012 (CST)
Chuck Screenshots
Do you only have episodes recorded on your computer? Only with the logo? It's just that it's getting really annoying because I have all these on DVD and will have to go back and redo all your screenshots in order to keep the pages consistent. Also, you may want to hold off on uploading screenshots if there's only a tiny shot of the weapon onscreen. I have only gone through a few episodes of Season 4 so far and I know that getting a shot of Casey's P226 is difficult, but I would ask that you don't put 5 or 6 screenshots if the handgun is barely recognizable. I just barely got finished with dividing up the seasons and already have to find new screenshots, so please consider carefully what screenshots you're going to put up. --Ben41 21:26, 5 January 2012 (CST)
You deleted the entire Season 4 page
Please do not put "Bring Back" petitions on the front page of television shows. These are to be put on the discussion page only. When you put that comment up on Season 4, you also deleted the entire season 4 page of entries. If this happens again, you may be subject to further disciplinary action. --Ben41 23:03, 29 January 2012 (CST)
- You should click the "Preview" before saving your changes to see how it's going to look before saving. Also, when a "rollback" is done on a page, the page deletes the user's recent changes. In the future, please limit the number of screenshots you upload per weapon. As stated in the Rules, Standards and Principles under "Screenshots", For a single character using a single weapon, the limit should be 7 screenshots. 10 is the limit if documenting multiple characters using the same type of weapon or specifically trying to validate a weapon which may be subject of debate. --Ben41 20:03, 2 February 2012 (CST)
Chuck opening credits gun
I hope you didn't use MoviePropmaster's gun images to make this image because he doesn't allow users to modify any of the images he's posted. Please remove and redo with different images if this is the case. --Ben41 23:51, 14 February 2012 (CST)
When adding screenshots
What program are using to capture your screenshots? VLC player? For some reason, your screenshots are a little too bright when compared to the ones I've done. You can use VLC to brighten and sharpen the picture before you screencap. Also, it would be best to find sources that don't have logos in them or you can try painting them out with photo software. I ask this because if I am constantly changing your screenshots to keep the quality consistent. Take a look at my screenshot in Kimber Ultra Raptor compared to the ones you've uploaded and you can see that there's a bit of a difference. Please also try to limit screenshots on weapons that already have more than four screenshots. --Ben41 17:18, 25 February 2012 (CST)
I'm using absolute raw screenshots from recorded tv. No saturation or brightness. I'll darken and saturate them to fit and I'll remove the watermarks where I can. --Сергей Титов, Sergei Titov 17:04, 29 February 2012 (CST)
No More Repeat Screenshots!
I hate to do this, but I've reminded you repeatedly about adding promotional images and excessive images of the same character holding the same weapon. I don't understand why you insist on adding screenshots to an entry that already has eight images under it. If there are more than 3 images already of the same character holding the same weapon, do NOT add any more to that entry. As stated in the Rules, Standards and Principles: For a single character using a single weapon, the limit should be 7 screenshots. Also, do NOT add any more promotional images because of the reasons I've stated in my previous post. You're welcome to add images if any weapons were missed in the season, but if I will delete any more repetitive images. --Ben41 23:30, 29 February 2012 (CST)
The page was split in to seasons for more room. Let's say the 5906 category in one of the seasons. Sometimes there are very few screenshot of it like 2 or 3. There is now more room to add up to seven. The guns that were used a lot should have the max all0wed number of shots for maximum identification purposes. Some guns that were barely seen in the episodes have multiple good promo shots, and I was going it start a talk thread on the one silver slided gun she used in suitcase. --Сергей Титов, Sergei Titov 15:55, 2 March 2012 (CST)
You don't need to put three promo shots from the same episode of nearly the exact same pose. You should not put screenshots up just because the limit hasn't been reached. Only put screenshots up if there is something different about the weapon is seen (as I've stated before). Please follow these instructions. --Ben41 16:13, 2 March 2012 (CST)
Your filenames are too long
Before you add any more images, please shorten your filenames and add the title of the series at the front instead of "Tumblr" --Ben41 (talk) 19:13, 22 April 2013 (EDT)
