Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes (2013)

The following weapons appear in the video game Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes:

FN CAL Paratrooper

One of the first screenshots for the games shows Snake with what appears to be an FN FAL, but has a 30-round 5.56mm magazine. The rifle is actually more likely an FN CAL, which was based on FN FAL's designs but was chambered for the newer 5.56x45 NATO caliber. The gun was first demonstrated in 1967, but only around 12 000 pieces of FN CAL were ever developed. FN closed the CAL production line already in 1977 in order to start developing the new weapon which would end up being the [FN FNC]. The Paratrooper-model of the FNC would also be the second most potential identity of the rifle Big Boss is carrying in the promo shots, seeing how the barrel is fairly short and covered in a suppressor. The series itself has often shown various pieces of equipment appearing years before their actual real-life appearance.

Seeing how MGS Ground Zeroes seems to take place soon after Peace Walker (1974), something from couple years to few months even, it wouldn't be surprising if the MSF would've either adopted para-variant of FN CAL, or even acquired prototype models of the yet-to be released FN FNC.

SAR-80

A guard at the Prison camp in the debut trailer is armed with a SAR-80. Because of the Prison camp's obvious American ties as well as the gun's non usage in America, its implied that the guards are non-Americans who were hired to guard it.

Shipunov 2A42

A Shipunov 2A42 chaingun can be seen mounted on a helicopter in IGN's extended gameplay video.

The 2A42 on Snake's getaway chopper (which is intended to extract Paz and Chico as well, although the viewing ended early due to time constraints). Note that the chopper combines aspects of both the Mi-24D and the Mi-28 Havoc, such as the former's sizable transport bay and the latter's cockpits and its usage of the Shipunov.

Unknown MG

Part of a convoy in the debut trailer has a unknown MG mounted on a truck.
