Is there any particular reason it's called a 'Lewis and Clark' pistol? Lewis and Clark didn't use any special pistols, just ordinary horse pistols, and if the pistol used in the movie is just a generic horse pistol, so why is it called a 'Lewis and Clark pistol'? - Maxman 19:26 September 10, 2012 (EST)

Googling it comes up with lots of replicas that apparently get the name as being typical of what they would have used. Regardless of whether this is an actual accepted term doesn't really matter, as what is consistently pictured as the 'Lewis and Clark pistol' appears to be a Pistolet modèle An IX whilst the gun in this looks more like a Pistolet modèle An XIII with a shorter barrel. --commando552 (talk) 20:29, 10 September 2012 (EDT)
So, should it be changed? I mean, if 'Lewis and Clark pistol' isn't an actual definition or description, and the pistol used in the movie is an identifiable model, wouldn't it make sense? --Maxman (Talk) 00:20 11 September 2012 (EST)
