Darkest Hour: Europe '44-'45 is a popular and critically-acclaimed game mod for Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. A free DLC, Darkest Hour transforms the action from the Eastern Front to the European Theatre of Operations (ETO). Aside from adding new skins, textures, weapons and vehicles for the German Army, it includes three new Allied Armies - the American, British and Canadian - and new maps, set in France, Holland and Belgium, depicting the famous campaigns of the war, including Operation Overlord, Market Garden, the Hurtgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge. Apart from new weapons, vehicles, factions and settings, the game introduces numerous new gameplay features to improve feel and realism, including:

1) New Weapon Effects: Players can hear supersonic ballistics, suffer dehabilitating suppression effects and "shell-shock" from explosive rounds and weapons.

2) New Animations: Players can mantle walls and drop in from the skies.

3) New Classes: Players can spawn as RTO (Radio Telephone Operators) and call in artillery strikes from the front lines. Also, players can operate deployable and portable mortars - the M2 Mortar for the Allied Factions and Kurzer 8 cm Granatwerfer 42 for the Germans.

The following firearms appear in the video game Red Orchestra 2: Ostfront 41-45:
