Timecop Automatic Machine Pistol

Just wondering if you had any idea what firearm the Timecop Machine Pistol was built around. I've been told that it's not a TEC 9, AP-9 or Spectre M4. --Ben41 20:47, 13 March 2012 (CDT)

Finctional Weapons

YOU BLANKED THE PAGE! WAHOOOO! Now it will load! :-) SO quick question for ya. What are the rules governing whether a fictional weapon gets its own page? I read the info on IMFDB Info: Fictional Firearms and it makes perfect sense, but it seems more about whether the gun is mentioned on the site or not. I'm particularly curious about the (America's Army 3) - Grenade Series. These grenades are used in 1 video game and are clearly based on real world grenades. It seems to me that they don't need to have their own page if they are just used in this one game. I'd love to hear your thoughts. :-) --Zackmann08 20:42, 18 March 2012 (CDT)

SVD

I fixed the SVD page a while back; someone had changed the caption on your image of the Tiger Carbine you own to claim it was an SVD-M a couple of years back. What I'm curious about is the one we have labelled as SVD-S at present; is that one a Tiger Carbine too (as it was orginally captioned)? Evil Tim 12:21, 3 April 2012 (CDT)

Don't know. That one was a google search image and I'm not an expert on SVD rifles. Sure, I own them, but I have not researched them. IMFDB requires a magnitude higher of scholastic research than my job actually requires. hahahahahahah. I just know the rudimentary background on most guns, and then take them to the movie set, etc. etc. etc. :) MoviePropMaster2008 12:39, 3 April 2012 (CDT)

I need you or another admins help, my other account was blocked wrongfully.

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me with an issue I am having. Admin "Evil Tim" blocked me for no reason thinking I was some guy named "Burt", which I am not, my name is Danny. I tryed to contact him about it on my blocked account "Glock17gen4", but it wouldnt let me so I'm forced to use this account I made. I tryed to contact him and I have no received a reply, I think he is ignoring the msg or something. I was wondering if you could help and unblock my other account, thanks. People stealing your images

Hey, I'm not much of a poster here, but i found this site through google images, Obvious grand theft imagery Just wasn't sure if you were aware of this instance, i've seen photos uploaded in small bits here and there, but this takes it to a new level. Pepper 17:25, 10 April 2012 (CDT)

About admin Evil Tim

Hello. I posted on Talk:1968 Tunnel Rats page but Evil Tim reverted my post just a few minutes later. This is not the first time he had conflict with users, his actions forced another old-time user Mr. Wolf to quit. He likes declaring people trolls without a firm reason. Can something be done about it? :\ --Masterius 09:16, 14 April 2012 (CDT)

Unhelpful political commentary which has nothing to do with improving a page does not belong. Unless you can explain why saying America "trembles before China" has anything to do with improving the page "1968 Tunnel Rats" or serves any purpose but annoying people, I'll say it's trolling and doesn't belong. In general treating talk pages as a general discussion forum does not belong since we have an actual forum for that.
Mr. Wolf quit because he couldn't accept that a formatting idea only he subscribed to made pages look random and messy. I was sad to see he couldn't get past that weird quirk, since he was a good contributor, and I was sad to see him go. Don't you dare try to invoke him to justify what you're doing. Evil Tim 09:26, 14 April 2012 (CDT)

Exclusives

I contacted E. James Small a while back about the blaster props used in Battlefield Earth and he very kindly gave me a couple of extra shots of partially assembled guns. I don't think these are up anywhere else. Evil Tim 11:16, 14 April 2012 (CDT)

Taking Pictures

Hey man, I wanted to see if you could give me any tips about how you take your gun images. I wanted to upload a few of my own but I don't want them to look like cheap crap with the background and stuff. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks! --Zackmann08 17:31, 21 April 2012 (CDT)

Any reason you haven't responded to my last 2 post here?? --Zackmann08 13:15, 29 April 2012 (CDT)

Boss Warning

There are at least 5 other models in episode 2; I simply haven't had time yet to finish making it. I've never made a page that I didn't know for certain would qualify, and this is no exception. I've been here a while and you've seen how much care I put into pages that I make, so please message me on my talk page next time you feel the need to warn me about something (so as not to tempt other users to interfere with my work unnecessarily). Also, I'm pretty sure that seeing as the MGC guns are generally regarded as one of the "high quality" models alluded to in #4 and it only says that the one real firearm rule applies if the rest are considered "obvious toy or airsoft gun(s)" (which the MGCs are not) that the page would still qualify even if there were no other guns in the show.--PistolJunkie 10:56, 2 May 2012 (CDT)

But I just explained why it could qualify according to rule #4. My problem is that by leaving a warning like that (when I've shown on numerous occasions to put a great amount of care into a page and I placed the "under construction" banner at the top) you posted that warning on that talk page which could inadvertently encourage other users to make unnecessary changes (which usually consists of adding in listing for guns with no screencaps to back them up) or possibly even causing another admin to see the warning, assume the page doesn't qualify, and delete it while cleaning house. I'm not "butthurt", I'm just irritated that your first reaction to an incomplete and obviously under-construction page was to post a large warning in the talk page instead of sending it to me. It'd be one thing if I was a new user with no history here, but I've made dozens of pages and hold my work to a fairly high standard. Most if it tends to be fairly obscure stuff, so I know that the odds of another user doing it properly are pretty low.--PistolJunkie 17:37, 2 May 2012 (CDT)

Reviews

Ah right, I see what you mean. I've been starting to write reviews of a lot of films recently and I've put them on various forums and thought that it would be nice to share them here, but I do see what you mean about a lot of the films on this site not having reviews and how it would look. Thanks for getting back to me though :) --cool-breeze 17:20, 7 May 2012 (CDT)

Common Mistakes

What is the rule here? I want to make sure I get it right. Is there a golden number after which they SHOULD be categorized? I just keep coming across pages with 20-30 guns and no categories. (24 - Season 8 for example). I would appreciate your feedback, I want to get this right... --Zackmann08 17:30, 7 May 2012 (CDT)

Sounds good to me! Thanks. --Zackmann08 10:12, 8 May 2012 (CDT)

Infoboxes

Hey. So first off, a disclaimer, I am posting the following message for each of the Admins so don't think I'm spamming. Just want to get input from all of you. I have been working on a number of infoboxes for different pages (Template:Infobox Movie, Template:Infobox TV, Template:Infobox Video Game). I have already gotten some help from Bunni who installed an additional add-on to facilitate the templates. I would love to get some feedback from you (and other admins) regarding these. Do you like the format? Are there things you would like changed? Should additional information be added? The nice thing is that with the add-on that Bunni installed, you do not have to provide all the information for the infobox. Any variables left blank will simply not be printed.

Finally, I would like to see how you feel about my adding these to pages. I have gotten positive feedback from a number of users (including at least 3 admins) but before I add this to more than a dozen or so pages (which I have done for testing purposes) I want to really get full permission. I know that sweeping changes are a MAJOR no-no without full admin approval. Check out the thread in the forum (http://forum.imfdb.org/showthread.php?t=1942). I look forward to hearing your feedback! :-) --Zackmann08 11:17, 9 May 2012 (CDT)

Battle of Long Tan

Crackshot wants to make a page for The Battle of Long Tan, which appears to be a documentary with re-enactments. Crackshot has told me that this is similar to Kokoda (2010), which appears to have been allowed. I'm not really sure now, because there are obviously a lot of History Channel-type documentaries that do re-enactments as well and I don't believe these are eligible. If you think this new page should stay, please let me know. --Ben41 05:05, 15 May 2012 (CDT)

77 Sunset Strip

Well of course I bow to your experience since you actually photographed it and handeled it. I was going off of the photo - that weird front sight and the short grip. From the photo it looks like it was chopped by a gunsmith somewhere along the line and possibly the barrel was changed, but when I look at the group photo of the three actors it does look like Efram is holding a Colt Detective Special - judging by the scale. I've never heard of a Colt DS in 32 caliber, but then I suppose a good smith wouldn't have too much trouble converting a DS to a .32 caliber configuration. I have no issue with you making the change. You're there and I'm not. I pride myself on not being an idiot. Well not to often.--Jcordell 16:58, 18 May 2012 (CDT)

TV Episodes

Since when did we put episodes in the "Air Date" column?? I thought the standard was to put them in the Notes column?? --Zackmann08 18:21, 19 May 2012 (CDT)

I COULD NOT agree more.... You are right, I was making an assumption. Hope I didn't come across sounding like an ass... Honestly didn't mean to. I'd like to help! Question though... sis the air DATE really necessary as opposed to just the year? I think when you start adding day and month it gets to be a bit too much information... Plus there are some guns that appear in just a single episode, and then some that are used throughout a series (the characters main weapon). Another thing that would be REALLY nice to clear up while we are at it, for the date, do you list the date/year the weapon occurred, or the date(s) the show ran for? For example, if Jack Bauer used a certain gun for season 1-3 of 24 do we list 2001-2004 or 2001-2010? I've seen it both ways... I would LOVE to work together with you on this! How About the following (I included a couple sample entries, they are made up and don't pertain to any certain gun). :
Show Title Actor Character Note Episode Air Date
24 Kiefer Sutherland Jack Bauer With folding stock Seasons 1 - Season 3 2001-2004
CSI: NY Gary Sinise Det. Mac Taylor "Out of the Sky" (S07E05) 2010
I propose making a template page for this that we can direct people to. It will show the code that is decided upon and list important things to make sure to do/not do.
Notes to make sure people know:
  • Title is in italics
  • A column with no entry is left BLANK! Don't put a period or a bunch of question marks or write unknown. Just leave it blank.
  • The answer to the date of occurrence vs dates of show running question.
  • We'll think of more...
--Zackmann08 18:59, 19 May 2012 (CDT)
Any thoughts??? --Zackmann08 18:34, 4 June 2012 (CDT)

Blank Gun Pages

Hey. I saw you took care of the "Arminius Model 10". I wanted to draw your attention to a few other gun pages that should prolly go since they don't have any occurrences... Most of them dont even have specs! Just an image and the "This gun appears in...". I'm also 99% percent sure that none of them are your images. I know that there are a few guns on the site that haven't appeared in anything but come from your "arsenal" so we keep them up. As you know, I defer to your judgement but these pages seem poorly made, reflect poorly on the site and don't meet even the most basic criteria for inclusion. --Zackmann08 12:28, 28 May 2012 (CDT)

Jericho 941

Hey MoviePropMaster - I had a couple of questions about the model specifics of the Jericho 941 that you uploaded an image of. Would it be cool to talk via email? Thanks. @JaySinkie 07:57, 30 May 2012 (CDT)

PNGs

I believe that the site now rejects the uploads of any PNG's. The PNG's already uploaded on the site are still there, but I don't think you can upload any new PNG's. --Ben41 04:21, 4 June 2012 (CDT)

Your Images

Quesiton for you. I am attempting to do some edits on Wikipedia as well. There are a number of gun pages that are missing images of the gun being discussed. On your user page you say that you "grant IMFDB.org copyright usage of my own images as long as they are unaltered or unmodified." Would you be okay with me using your images in wikipedia articles? I would be more than happy to attribute them to you and would list your userpage as the source. I absolutely DO NOT want to use your images without permission though so let me know. :-) --Zackmann08 13:25, 7 June 2012 (CDT)

?? Is there a reason you haven't responded to my last couple of posts on your discussion page? --Zackmann08 16:45, 9 June 2012 (CDT)
Again, could you please respond? --Zackmann08 20:13, 25 June 2012 (CDT)

Actor Templates

The tables were always there, but Zackmann08 gets all the credit for creating the Pagename templates. --Ben41 00:14, 9 June 2012 (CDT)

Jennings

Thanks for replacing the image on Jennings J-22! As always your image is soooo much better. --Zackmann08 18:35, 10 June 2012 (CDT)

LAW Pic

No, I found it online and put it up because it's a match for the LAW in Street Fighter (having the same weird front sight). It was labelled as an early production LAW where I picked it up, I grabbed it because the one shown clearly isn't the more usual type (with a big bulge on the top for the pop-up sights). Evil Tim 04:39, 12 June 2012 (CDT)

My Way (2011)

Just so you know, My Way (2011) was nuked because Ben41 delete the page 2 days ago. A few hours later, the guy who had created the page, created a new account and recreated the page with the exact same information that had been there before Ben deleted it. --Zackmann08 21:45, 23 June 2012 (CDT)

At least a week. The issue is that the guy who created the page created it, then moved on and created another page that wasn't up to standard (had plagiarized stuff from IMDB for one). Then he moved on to a third page and a fourth. Ben as well as myself and 2 other non-admins tried to talk to the guy but he refuses to respond to our posts on his discussion page (and I have checked to see if he responded on his own page as newbies tend to do). But despite being warned specifically not to create more pages before finishing the ones he created, he keeps doing so... --Zackmann08 21:54, 23 June 2012 (CDT)
You bet. Yea I know what you mean. I have a background in Computer Programming so I have a bit of a leg up but this stuff can still be confusing. While I'm here, I'd love to get your feedback on some of the templates I've been creating. Are there any that you would like to see made? Anything you think could be useful? I am no where near to as knowledgeable about guns as you and many of the other members are. But, as I mentioned, I have a background in programming which is why I've tried to use some of my "skills" to help improve the site. As I said, if there is anything you would like to see me try to make, please throw your ideas my way. :-) --Zackmann08 22:51, 23 June 2012 (CDT)

Documentaries

So after consulting the Rules, Standards and Principles, it seems that the ban on documentaries is not actually stated anywhere in there... Would you mind adding it? --Zackmann08 22:34, 26 June 2012 (CDT)

The House on Creepy Lane

So I just deleted The House on Creepy Lane AGAIN. I saw you deleted it the last 2 times... I am new to being an admin and don't want to overstep but seems to me like this guy isn't getting the message. I left a message on his discussion page saying that if he creates the page again, he will be banned from the site (that would be his FOURTH strike...). Is that appropriate? Like I said, I'm new as an admin and do not want to abuse my "powers". --Zackmann08 13:55, 27 June 2012 (CDT)

Max Manus

When working to actor Ken Duken I came across a deleted movie Max Manus. I do not understand. Nevertheless, it is best Norwegian film about the war. Why is missing?--Pandolfini 14:44, 27 June 2012 (CDT)

Because it was deleted back in 2009 and the page had no screencaps, no poster and was almost a bare page. How good a movie WAS has no bearing on whether or not it's IMFDB page qualifies. THINK before you ask questions. MoviePropMaster2008

Images

Thanks for the tip. I was checking to make sure that they weren't used anywhere on here but didn't think about their use on the forum. I will make sure that I don't delete any obviously personal gun pictures. Like I said, thanks for the tip! --Zackmann08 08:07, 4 July 2012 (CDT)

The walking dead the game

what is the policy on adding the walking dead video game to imfdb?

Obscure non-American firearm

Hi. I'm sorry, but Google translator to translate it fails, unfortunately. I do not understand the meaning of the sentence. It would write it differently? What is "obscure non-American firearm"? What is here problem?--Pandolfini 16:52, 14 July 2012 (CDT) Oh, I see! It missing there country of origin. I apologize for this error.--Pandolfini 02:45, 15 July 2012 (CDT)
