De Lisle Carbine
Description
The De Lisle Carbine was a very successful attempt to make an extremely quiet weapon for clandestine use. Designed by William G. De Lisle, the De Lisle is basically a Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III rifle receiver (modified to .45 ACP) with the barrel of a Thompson submachine gun and the magazine of a Colt M1911A1 pistol. It was made only in very limited numbers for British special units; only 129 De Lisle carbines were built in total. It's considered as one of the quietest firearms ever made.
