IMFDB talk:Administrators
I want to be made an administrator--Dimaggio1 00:19, 6 August 2011 (CDT)dimaggio1
Yeah...about that, if you want to be an administrator, you don't ask to be one. You earn the right. If we just gave out Admin powers most people would abuse it. It's also common courtesy. - User:1morey August 6, 2011 2:58 AM (EST)
- I believe asking on your first edit is also unlikely to impress anyone. Evil Tim 02:33, 6 August 2011 (CDT)
This user has been banned because it appears to be a certain someone. --Ben41 02:49, 6 August 2011 (CDT)
- Doesn't this loser have anything ELSE TO DO? Like try to save his own wiki that rips off IMFDB? He needs to get a life! MoviePropMaster2008 15:14, 26 August 2011 (CDT)
Corrupt
The Administrators on this site are corrupt and un-fair. They block users for no reason. This site needs new ones.
User:Jamalpickmycotton, you better watch what you say. You will likely get blocked or even banned for that. In fact, I just checked the Rules, Standards and Principles, and it appears you are violating the "Maintain Professionalism" principle. Sounds like you need to chill, the administrators have done nothing wrong, as far as I see. Yeah they might slip once in a while, its a part of being human. The administrators jobs are to be the "law enforcement" and caretakers of this site. I think of the administrators as being strict but fair. The only people I have seen banned so far are the spammers putting links to other sites (they usually have viruses, or are scams.). So yeah. -User:1morey August 22, 2011 8:48 AM (EST)
Actually I'm not breaking any rules by posting this. And if I get blocked for stating this fact it will just prove my above statement. There is no fairness with these supervisors.
- What you are doing is borderline trolling. Which we will not tolerate. If you want to make good contributions to the site you're more than welcome to stay. If not, leave. --Predator20 21:55, 22 August 2011 (CDT)
- Predator20, He's only made two posts and they are both about how Corrupt you mods are. Personally I think they are a sockpuppet for someone who was banned for vandalism or trolling. They are not a spammer's sockpuppet because they haven't tried to spam anything yet.Rockwolf66 22:06, 22 August 2011 (CDT)
Well obviously I'm not a vandalizer because I haven't vandalized anything yet. And instead of turning this around on me and saying im a trolling. How about you mobs work on bettering yourselfs.
- Well Jamalpickmycotton, your unfounded accusation of our moderators in your very first post leads me to belive that you were banned for your behavior before. If not your very first post was simple trolling and you should be banned for it. As for me "bettering yourselfs" I do my best to be a positive contributing member of this database. Hopefully your membership on this forum is very short.Rockwolf66 01:47, 23 August 2011 (CDT)

- I hate to bring it up, but it kind of bugs me; why wasn't he banned the moment he created an account with that user name? I'm pretty sure if falls pretty cleanly into the "offensive" category.--PistolJunkie 01:51, 24 August 2011 (CDT)
- It was vaguely racist but we usually only ban usernames which are overtly offensive, racially charged, or political stupid. We will actually ban a user who picks the name "Ban All Guns" (not a great example but the reason why is that if a person picks a username that will immediately start off a series of arguement just about the name, then that person should seriously reconsider re-joining with another name. Their (and our) IMFDB experience will be marred by constant fighting or debating about a topic that has nothing to do with the mission of this site. Jamalpickmycotton was OBVIOUSLY a previously banned member. I have no regrets in banning him. I carefully looked through his history of contributions and the person whom it was was obvious. IMFDB is not a free for all. We don't allow idiots to pollute the IMFDB experience for all the other users who just want to come here to be educated, provide info and have fun. Pulling that "If you Ban Me for being a jerk then you're proving my point that you're a bunch of Nazis" argument doesn't fly with me. Anyone who was fooled, is too naive :D MoviePropMaster2008 15:10, 26 August 2011 (CDT)

- Well, he is not the only one with an offensive username. I also wanted to bring up this but then I realized, if the admins (who obviously track the recent changes) are okay with it, then I won't give a sh*t also. - bozitojugg3rn4ut 02:18, 24 August 2011 (CDT)
- Two quick thoughts from me:
- (1.) Not sure if this person is a troll or not, but the username "Jamalpickmycotton" sounds rather, well..racist.
- (2.) While many of us (myself included) can be legitimately accused of missteps and banning people too soon for minor offenses, I think we should have asked Jamal to cite some examples of us banning people for "no reason". While he seems to be a troll, we also don't want to be too hot-headed about this. -MT2008 14:28, 24 August 2011 (CDT)
MoviePropMaster2008 What is your problem you are a straight up bully. This person has something to say about the administration and you just block him right away? Are you afraid to here what he has to say?--Jables 00:24, 28 August 2011 (CDT)
- 1) Your sockpuppet accounts are as transparent as plastic wrap. Seriously, you are not fooling anyone, so just quit acting like a twelve-year-old and admit it.
- 2) Yet you still haven't learned how to link to a user page correctly.
- 3) For the sake of argument, let's say you, excuse me, he is a legitimately new user. How could a user who's account is less than ten minutes old and has only posted on this page accusing the moderators of "corruption" and has never made a single edit anywhere else on the site possibly have any real clue as to whether or not the moderators were doing what they're supposed to? Be aware that this description fits your current account to a "t", so a carefully worded argument would be in your best interest.
- 4) Would you please, for one in this tireless charade, explain exactly how the mods are "corrupt" and "bullies"? Besides, you know, banning trolls, vandals, sockpuppets, and people who post blatantly illegal images? Please, enlighten us with links to editing history that displays a moderator abusing power.
