F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon (2005)

F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon) is a horror-themed first person shooter developed by Monolith and published by Vivendi/Sierra in 2005. The player assumes the role of Point Man, a member of the F.E.A.R. team who possesses superhuman reflexes. The story evolves around Paxton Fettel, who has taken control of a team of clone supersoldiers, called "Replica soldiers". The members of F.E.A.R. in conjunction with SFOD-D (Delta Force) must try to stop Fettel before it is too late.

The following weapons appear in F.E.A.R.:

Heckler & Koch USP40

The primary handgun of the game is a H&K USP chambered for .40 S&W. In-game it is called the Rakow AT-14 and can be dual wielded. It is incorrectly depicted as having a magazine capacity of 18 rounds instead of 13 or 16 like the real USP40, only the 9mm version using magazines with H&K's extended floor-plates can hold 18 rounds. Another oddity is that it's modeled with a tall target front sight and the standard height rear sight. Finally, the textures of the weapon are modeled after a USP chambered for .45 ACP, but pre-release media indicates they are, indeed, chambered for .40 S&W.

Olympic Arms OA-93

Altered Olympic Arms OA-93 Pistols make an appearance in the Xbox 360 version of the F.E.A.R. series as the SM15 Machine Pistol, however the handguard and rail along the top of the weapon bear a striking similarity to the Heckler & Koch HK416. The SM15's animations are identical to the AT-14's. However, in FEAR Files, the single-wield animations are very similar to that of the Penetrator, resulting in the weapon pointing directly to the left instead of forward, blocking the player's screen.

Heckler & Koch MP5A3

The primary sub-machine gun of the game. Mostly based on the H&K MP5A3 with some elements from the Special Weapons MP-10, a MP5 knock-off. In-game it features a mounted holographic sight and a dedicated forend weaponlight. It is called Sumak RPL in the game.

Heckler & Koch SL8

A heavily modified SL8 sporting rifle makes it into the game. It is the primary assault rifle of the game; it is fully automatic, with a tiny double-drum magazine (both in terms of size and capacity, holding only 45 rounds), and an M14-style rear aperture sight. Ingame it is called the Rakow G2A2.

IMI Tavor TAR-21

An IMI Tavor TAR-21 makes an appearance in the game. It utilizes a 3X scope, and is restricted to 3-round burst fire. Called the Baksha ASP Rifle in the game.

Franchi SPAS-12

The Franchi SPAS-12 has an unrealistic 12-shell magazine capacity rather than it's real counterpart's 8. Fans of the Gibbing system will find this gun to their likes. In F.E.A.R. it is called the Vollmer VK-12.

Armsel Protecta

This shotgun makes it into the PS3 Version of F.E.A.R., as well as the Xbox 360 Version of F.E.A.R. Files. The weapon is refered to as the Watson Autoshotgun, but its name isn't the only thing that's been changed; The weapon has been upgraded a removable drum substituting the integrated one, an AR-15-style telescoping stock, and some strange rear-sight assembly. It is also one of only two weapons here never used by the Point Man (Both Perseus Mandate and the PS3 bonus mission are not from the Point Man's perspective, and the instant action maps are, technically, non-canon).

Heckler & Koch G36C

While the resemblance is only slight (mainly in the top half of the foregrip, the upper receiver, and the carrying rail), the HK G36C makes it into the second F.E.A.R. expansion, Perseus Mandate, as the Vector Engineering Systems V7 Advanced Rifle, the standard issue rifle for the Nightcrawler Mercenary Army, and replaces the G2A2 as the player's primary automatic weapon. It utilizes a magnifying night-vision scope, and bears a magazine resembling the 20-round version of the AR-15's STANAG magazine, albeit flattened on the bottom. Like the Watson Autoshotgun, the V7 is never used by the Point Man.

N6A3 Frag Grenade

Fragmentation grenades used by Replica forces and ATC guards. These grenades explode on contact, and it is also possible to shoot them in the air (using slow-mo).
