Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004)

Colt M1911A1

This weapon was originally going to be a Glock 17, but for some reason Rockstar forgot to render it as such. Instead they left in the old M1911A1 render from GTAIII and Vice City. Called the "9mm" it is used by all members of the San Andreas Law Enforcement community, unrealistically, this weapon carries 17 rounds in a magazine (like the Glock it was supposed to be) and isn't very powerful, but when you reach the hitman skill level, you can wield two of these. A silenced version is also available for use in the game, does more damage but uses a different ammunition type than the regular "9mm."

IMI Desert Eagle

The Desert Eagle is more powerful than the pistol and silenced pistol. Catalina uses one in some levels involving her, and one of the Villains, Officer Eddie Pulaski (Chris Penn), carries one during the "High Noon" level. CJ is seen holding one after Officer Frank Tenpenny (Samuel L. Jackson) is killed. Cesar Vialpando uses one in one level during the Los Santos riots. Sweet uses one during the riots, and the Grove Street gang members obtain these complete with a knife instead of the regular pistol if the player obtains the 100 tags.

Ithaca 37

The Ithaca 37 is basic shotgun carried by some Police, gangs and enemies in the game, and has a slow rate of fire, but is quite effective at CQC. CJ and Catalina use two of these weapons during a bank robbery level.

Sawn-off Double Barreled Shotgun

Called the "Sawn Off Shotgun" in the game, it is powerful, especially when CJ can begin to carry two of these weapons. But it's range is limited.

Franchi SPAS 12

The Franchi SPAS-12 is called the "Combat Shotgun", and is faster and more effective than the other shotguns. Officer Tenpenny holds one in the ending.

Intratec TEC-9

TEC-9s are used by Grove Street gangbangers and assorted criminals in the game, and Sweet, Ryder, and Big Smoke are seen using these weapons as well when doing drive-bys.

Micro IMI Uzi

The Uzi appears in the game as the "Micro-SMG", and is used by some gang members. It is a lot more accurate and powerful than the TEC-9, and can be eventually be double-wielded like the TEC-9. It is always shown with jungle-style taped magazines. There's something odd about this gun in the game, the gun is obviously a Uzi but the picture shows Mac-10/11.

Heckler & Koch MP5

Called the "SMG" in the game, it is very powerful and accurate for an SMG, and is used by Russians and Mafia thugs alike, random gang members, the FBI Agents in the game, and the Grove Street gang members after the player has obtained the 100 tags. Some LSPD SWAT Officers are seen carrying them as well.

Norinco Type 56

The Norinco Type 56, as told by it's hooded front sights (which differs from that of the AK-47), is used by some enemies and gang members. A rusty old one is used by CJ during the "Reuniting the Families" level. Also worth noting is the fact that the gun is unrealistically 2/3 long as CJ is tall. Sweet uses it in two of the missions.

Colt M733

Called the "M4" in the game, it is actually the Colt Model 733 Carbine, which is distinguished by it's shortened barrel. It is used by National Guard Soldiers in the game, and by some of Big Smoke's thugs when CJ attacks his crack fortress. It is more accurate and just as powerful as the Type 56, despite the actual weapon firing 5.56x45mm rounds, as compared to the Type 56s 7.62x39mm rounds (which are far more powerful yet the Type-56 shares the same ammo pool with the M733), and is depicted in-game with a very unrealistic 50-round magazine, whereas the actual weapon only holds 30. Note: The front sights are wrong way round.

Marlin Model 336

Called the "Rifle" in game, the Marlin Model 336 has no scope, but is very accurate and benefits from a certain zooming, provided in-game, similar to the zoom encountered when aiming with the M4 (Colt M733) and AK-47 (Norinco Type 56), although not as useful as the actual sniper rifle's scope. It is not used often by players as it is very slow-firing compared to other weapons.

Remington 700

Called the "Sniper Rifle" in game, it only has one improvement over the Rifle, and that is a zoomable scope.

Hand Held GE M134

The most powerful weapon in the game, this weapon is used 3 times by CJ:, first when protecting Zero's (David Cross) store from Berkley's planes, again while attacking the container ship in San Fierro Bay, and then again to take out two National Guard Hunter Helicopters in the "Up, Up, and Away" level. It can also be found in Mike Toreno's (James Woods) ranch house after the mission "Vertical Bird"

RPG-7

The RPG-7 is the basic rocket launcher in the game, and CJ uses one several times in the game, notably in "Are You Going To San Fierro?" to shoot down a police chopper, and in "Toreno's Last Flight".

9K32 Strela 2 / FIM-92 Stinger

Called the "Heat Seeking Rocket Launcher" in the game, this weapon can lock onto enemy vehicles (including pedal bicycles), making this weapon more effective than the Rocket Launcher at shooting down helicopters. Strangely, when it's on the ground it resembles an SA-7 Grail, but when CJ picks it up it turns into an FIM-92 Stinger.

Flamethrower

A hand held flamethrower that scorches anyone in front of it. It has a medium-long range.

Glock 17

Not an in-game weapon, but the 1st generation Glock 17 is seen in a few cutscenes from the movie "The Introduction" (a movie released shortly after the game, to explain what happened before CJ came back to Los Santos). It is used by Salvatore Leone (Frank Vincent) to threaten Ken Rosenberg (William Fichtner) and Officer Jimmy Hernandez to kill Officer Ralph Pendelbury. In the actual game, it is used by Officer Eddie Pulaski after CJ is taken by C.R.A.S.H. to the countryside, and by Mike Toreno when he first meets CJ.

The real Glock 17 uses a 17 round Magazine. The Glock's existence in certain cutscenes may explain why the M1911 skined '9mm Pistols' in the game have an unrealistic magazine capacity, as the game skins were changed from a Glock to an M1911 during development but the magazine capacity remained the same, as did some of the skins in certain cutscenes.

M16A1

Although it cannot be used by the player, an M16A1 with a 20 round Magazine appears during Stowaway, being carried by the Agents as they load up the Plane.

Uzi 9mm

In the Final Mission, End of the Line, A Statue of Big Smoke can be seen holding the Shotgun and the Uzi 9mm. The Uzi 9mm was replaced before it's release along with the early appearance for Big Smoke.

Hughes M230 chain gun and AGM-114 Hellfire anti-tank missile

San Andreas, like Vice City, features a version of the Hughes AH-64 Apache, known as the "Hunter." It has an M230 chain gun in a chin mount, and wing mounts containing eight AGM-114 Hellfire missiles in two packs of four, as well as two non-functional Hydra 70 rocket pods. It is used in a few missions during flying school. When all flying school missions are completed with gold medals, the Hunter spawns at Verdant Meadows Airfield. You can also use this for vigilante missions, althought these missions are called "Brown Thunder" instead (a spoof on the film, "Blue Thunder").
