The Book of Eli (2010)

Elderly couple

Saw the film last night. The old couple (Martha and George?) use an MP5 and M4 with a foregrip and some kind of scope. No idea what else is in their chest of weapons. --24.63.181.248 23:38, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

I watched it earlier today, they give meg from family guy a H&K MP7 from the sofa, and michael gambon (the old guy) has a pump action shotgun too, possibly a mariner or a trench gun, i wasnt payin too much attention at the time, fucking chatty bastard kids in the row behind. --Captain Snikt 04:32, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

I just saw this movie yesterday. I will have to say it was a pretty good film with some kick ass sword fighting and shootout scenes from Denzel. A very good and unique storyline also.- ArmoredMason619

is this film like mad max with the bible in it. an meg fromfamily guy is mila kunis. smish34

It's like Mad Max ate Trigun and shit out Borderlands 99.135.186.44

And the fornicated with Fallout. Acora 10:02, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

I know she's milla kunis, but to me every time i heard her speak all i could hear in the back of my mind was 'shut up meg!' And this film really is just fallout without the mutant creatures, nice twist at the end though. --Captain Snikt 01:09, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Eh, the whole thing about the bible put too much importance on religion for my tastes, but I still enjoyed the movie. Acora 05:43, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

I dunno, I kinda enjoyed the opposing view points between faith vs. religion. Kinda refreshing seeing something that manages to bash the abuse of religion but still note the importance of faith and reason.
Eh, it seemed more to me that Carnegie didn't even believe the bible, he just saw that, as I think he put it, 'weak minded fools' would, and he could use it to control them. I dunno, I might just be looking at it too critically. Acora 10:02, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
But that's my point: Carnegie doesn't really care about the message of the book, he simply intends to use it as a tool. He wants the religion without faith and reason to balance it. I came away from this movie with the distinct impression that it was a pro-faith movie... that still didn't like blindly following what someone else told you is "god's will".

Rifles

(From the front page): Looks like the Stock of a M24.

Personally I do remember an M1 carbine and what if my memory is correct a Steyr Manlicher sporting rifle. I'll have to look in a couple buyers guides to confirm the make and model. Rockwolf66 07:00, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

A bit of gun trivia. According to Gary Whitta, the film's screenwriter, posting on Tom Jane's message boards, there is a fellow on a rooftop who has the same rifle as Don Johnson in "a boy and his dog" which is one of the Hughes brothers favorite films and was, according to Gary, a big inspiration for this one. -J3

Old Man

The old man uses a 1897 trench gun. either a Winchester or a Norinco remake.

I wonder where the old man got the HK MP7. Oh well at least it would be easy to get ammo for! Gunner313

How would MP7 ammo be more common then any other possible caliber... 9mm, .45ACP, .223, .308, 12ga would all be far more plentiful or any other caliber. That makes no sense. Apologies if your comment is sarcasm --Furious Oyster
I assume that the old cannibals got their arsenal from people they've killed. The MP7 might have scavenged from a military or police arsenal after the Flash (the Apocalyptic event) by some wasteland wanderer, who then ended up on the anthropophagic couple's menu. We don't even know how far into the future this is. It could have been 30 years before the movie's story that some US military or police adopted the MP7 into their arsenal and it was picked up by the old couple. I'm just wondering how Carnegie got his hands on an old fashion gattling gun, ammo and magazines, Excalibur01 03:05, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Hey E, You're forgetting that people do make reproduction Gattling Guns. I'm guessing that it was found at the place of some Blackpowder Society member. Rockwolf66 04:59, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Many original Gatling Guns were made in .45-70, which is not an uncommon cartridge but not as available as 9mm, .45ACP, .223, .308, and 12ga. But with a set of reloading dies, not a difficult cartridge to reload for and is fairly economical with propellant powder if you are making Black-Powder-Equivalent loads.

Pistols

I'm pretty sure the main bad guy was using a Browning Hi-Power. It looked like his main henchman used a Berretta 92 at the start of the first shootout in the town. And did anyone recognize Eli's pistol? Mandaloin 06:18, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Dude check the main article, the Browning Tutone Beretta and Eli HK45 have all been accounted for --Captain Snikt 07:14, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

D'oh! >_<Mandaloin

Just saw the movie last night and the revolver at the beginning of the movie was definitely a Colt DA revolver of some kind. It had the Colt hard rubber grips with the old style pull release.96.32.185.136 20:04, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

I was just about to ask about that. If someone could get a screencap, it would be helpful to those who are curios. I mean, currently, the page just states that there's a 'Colt Police Positive. Unknown year likely a 38' somewhere in the movie. I'll edit it so it at least tells what it pertains to. Acora 05:43, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Trench gun?

I have NOT seen this movie yet, but the screencap shows a shotgun that is stainless with black synthetic furniture... Forgive me if I'm wrong, but how can anyone claim that this is an original 1897 trench gun?MoviePropMaster2008 22:26, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

It looks like a Mossberg 500. --funkychinaman 16:33, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

You should see this movie ASAP! From what I recall it is a 1897, may not be original but it is one.--FIVETWOSEVEN 16:00, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
