Colt M1911A1

Most widely-used and widely-seen gun in the movie, by almost all major characters, notably John Dillinger (Warren Oates), Pretty Boy Floyd (Steve Kanaly), Homer Van Meter (Harry Dean Stanton), and FBI agent Melvin Purvis (Ben Johnson). Purvis's Colt is a silver finish, in contrast to the Colts used by the bank robbers. (Like most movies depicting Colt 1911s of this era, the firing models were probably a Star 9mm, to be more compatible with blanks).

Browning Automatic Rifle

The bank robbers use these in some of the film's major shootouts, best seen after the Mason City bank robbery and during the Little Bohemia shootout.

Thompson M1928 SMG

Ubiquitous gangster film firearm seen used by both the bank robbers and the G-men. It seems to be the favorite weapon of Baby Face Nelson (Richard Dreyfuss).
