The M1911A1 is seen in the hands of Holnists and is also used by The Postman (Kevin Costner) when he escapes from the Holnists.
Smith & Wesson Model 10
General Bethlehem's (Will Patton) sidearm seen at the end of the movie is the Smith & Wesson Model 10.The same revolver was used just moments before by Postmaster Ford Lincoln Mercuy (Larenz Tate).
Rifles & Carbines
CAR-15
The CAR-15 taken off the Holnists is used by several characters including the Postman (Kevin Costner) as well as Abby (Olivia Williams). They were seen firing in semi-auto, probably indicating that they might be civilian models that weren't converted to full auto.
M14
An M14 is seen in the hands of Ford Lincoln Mercury (Larenz Tate).
This appears to be an FAL pattern rifle. You can see the flash suppressor/muzzle brake; it is much longer then the M16s. You can also see the FAL-pattern magazine. Also, there is no gas-block mounted front sight, but I can make out the FAL's front sight mounted at the front of the forward stock. If you examine it closely, I believe an experienced eye will notice these features as well. An M203 can be mounted to an FAL (the M203P1 model), and I assume a Cobray could be as well.SAWGunner89 04:14, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
M16A1
M16A1 rifles can be seen being carried by Holnist soldiers in the background. The Car-15 is carried by Holnist solders who get major camera time.
AK 47 Variant
One of the many Holnist soldiers appears to be carrying an Ak 47 Variant. Unable to determine the exact model.Despite my best efforts the only shot I could find of it remained blurry. However it's likely that it's an AKM considering that the movie was filmed within the continental United States in 1997 and the AKM often served as a double for the AK-47 during the eighties and nineties.
M1 Garand
M1 Garands are used by many of the Postal Carriers.
