Det. Sgt. James "Sonny" Crockett (Don Johnson) uses a SIG-Sauer P220 in the pilot episode of the show. Considering that the pilot episode was filmed in the spring of 1984 the model used would most likely have been the European model with the heel-clip magazine release.
Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) uses a Bren Ten in the first and second seasons of the show. It was essentially a beefed-up CZ 75 chambered for the original 10mm Norma Auto cartridge which differs slightly in case length from later 10mm rounds. This round was HOT, and consequently damaged the guns. In the '80s this was a new cartridge, but is rarely used in modern day. The company of Dornaus& Dixon was an ill-fated one, and since the producers of the Miami Vice-series would not use discontinued guns, it was replaced with the S&W 645 auto pistol
"The two guns were ordered specifically for the show by Michael Mann's production company. They did not come off the assembly line, but were built by Tom Dornaus personally. Tom did the initial blank conversion, if you want to call it that, but actually these two guns were built from the ground up specifically for firing blanks. He used major components which were not deemed suitable for production guns, but were perfectly adequate for a blank gun. The two guns were Standard Models with the old style rear sight assembly and no trigger stop screw. All external markings were standard Bren Ten. The only difference being that the guns had recoil springs and barrels designed to fire .45 ACP blanks. The barrel does not carry any caliber designation roll mark however. Because the ejection port on a Bren Ten is so large I don't believe that it had to be enlarged to accommodate the elongated .45 ACP blank cases. (Remember that the blank cases are in the shape of a loaded round WITH bullet seated.) Michael Mann requested specifically that the slides be a light color (hard chrome) for enhanced visibility. The hard chrome work was done by a small firm in the Huntington Beach area at that time. Both guns carry a special serial number. One of the guns is in the possession of a major collector in Pennsylvania and the other is owned by one of the show's producers, I believe. Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) carries a Detonics Combatmaster as a backup gun, in an ankle holster. In reality the Detonics would have been a substantial handgun to carry in an ankle holster. Several characters throughout the series use these as well.
A J-frame Smith & Wesson Model 36 "Chief's Special is seen on the bed in Tubbs' hotel room in the pilot episode. He can also be seen carrying this in the series finale "Freefall". Det. Gina Calabrese (Saundra Santiago) also uses this as her sidearm throughout the series, as well as Det. Trudy Joplin (Olivia Brown).
Det. Larry Zito (John Diehl) carries a Smith & Wesson 659 as his sidearm. A drug dealer in "The Dutch Oven" uses one to shoot at Trudy and Crockett before Trudy fills him full of lead.
A 6-inch barrel version of the Colt Peacekeeper Mk V is used by Lt. Castillo (Edward James Olmos) in most episodes. If it was a Python it would have a full lug running under the barrel. The Mk V had the ventilated top barrel rib and the half lug for the ejector rod.
Trini DeSoto (Martin Ferraro), disguised in drag, uses a stainless Dan Wesson Model 15-VH to attempt to kill Tubbs in the pilot episode, which he subsequently uses to fire at Crockett and other police officers. Martin Ferraro plays a recurring character Izzy Moreno throughout the rest of the series.
A police officer is seen with his Dan Wesson Model 15 drawn when checking to see if DeSoto is dead, after being shot by Tubbs. The officer's gun has a ribbed barrel.
During Leon's arrainment in the pilot episode, two court officers point Smith & Wesson Model 29s (blue and stainless) at Leon, in the mock scenario to excercise their "right to bear arms". Many Model 29s are used by various characters throughout the series, including Lt. Castillo in "No Exit".
In "The Maze", Lt. Jack Davis (Joe Morton) is seen carrying a Colt Python in his holster, as noted by it's Colt grips. Most of the SRT members in "The Maze" carry either Colt Pythons or Colt Commanders. In "Definitely Miami", Clemente's messenger's revolver switches from a Smith & Wesson Model 29 to a Colt Python in a brief continuity error. It is noted as so because in one shot his revolver has a half lug running under the barrel (S&W) and then a full lug (Colt). Also, in one shot it has a Bo Mar Rib on top of the barrel (S&W) and then a standard barrel with ribbing in the next shot (Colt).
A 1911A1 is used by Ludovici Armstrong (Jim Zubiena) to kill a bodyguard in Calderone's Return: Part 1 The Hit List. 1911's are used by many villains throughout the series, including many Colombians in "The Prodigal Son".
Several police officers throughout the series are armed with heavy barreled Smith & Wesson Model 10s. This indicates that it is most likely the standard issue sidearm for the Metro-Dade Police Department.
Used as a back up pistol to Sonny Crockett's SIG-Sauer P220 in the pilot, in which Crockett carries the Detonics Pocket 9 in his rear waistband near the small of his back. It is also seen in many other episodes throughout the series.
Tubbs, undercover as a Jamaican arms dealer, carries a Remington 1866 Derringer, which he holds on Tony Amato (Bruce Willis) at the end of "No Exit". He is also seen using one in "Smuggler's Blues".
Tubbs and Castillo both use Detonics Scoremasters in "The Prodigal Son" episode. Castillo also uses one in "Whatever Works". Several other characters throughout the series also use them.
The assassin sent to kill Freddie Constanza uses a suppressed High Standard HDM in "Out Where the Buses Don't Run". Max Rogo (Austin Pendleton) also is seen holding one in "Yankee Dollar".
A patron at the club where Crockett and Robbie (James Remar) are drinking at pulls a Beretta M1934 on Robbie when he starts dancing on the pool table in "Buddies".
Many characters throughout the series can be seen using Taurus PT92s, blued and stainless.

Charlie Basset (Ted Nugent) uses a stainless Taurus PT99, noted by the adjustable sights, in "Definitely Miami". (Thanks to MT2008 for spotting the adjustable sights.)
Carried by Tubbs in the first season. In the pilot, it is seen fitted with a full stock which is removed in later episodes. It is also used by one of the thugs in "Glades".
Two of Calderone's henchmen are seen holding Franchi SPAS-12s during the climax of the pilot episode before they are held at gunpoint by Crockett and Tubbs. A SPAS-12 is used by a hired killer Ludovici Armstrong (Jim Zubiena) in the episode Calderone's Return: Part 1 The Hit List. It appears to have been fitted with special nickel plated parts. Also appears in the hands of Jaime, one of the Escobar brothers, in The Maze.

Mossberg 500
Many Metro-Dade police officers, Vice detectives, and SRT members use Mossberg 500s throughout the series. Tubbs briefly takes one from an officer when searching of Ludovici Armstrong (Jim Zubiena) in "The Hit List". The judge in the pilot episode uses a Mossberg 500 Mariner during the mock scenario at the courthouse before Leon's arrainment.
Used by Clem (Al Cox) in "Glades", referred to as a "Gator Gun". After it misfires several times, he finally kills a Colombian who was about to kill Crockett. The muzzle has the conical shape so you could jam rocks, nails, and other junk in the barrel. It was a primative shotgun. (Thanks to Gunmaster45 for identifying this one)
Two of the Jamaicans are armed with the Star Z70 in Cool Runnin'. Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas) arms himself with one after he tasers one of the Jamaicans while hiding in the trunk. This 9 mm SMG, used in the past by the spanish military and police, can be seen in another episode
Surf (David Rasche) uses a Colt 9mm Submachine Gun during the climax of "Bushido". It is equipped with a 90-round drum magazine and a large laser sight. One of Col. Maynard's (G. Gordon Liddy) thugs is also armed with a Colt 9mm SMG in "Back in the World".
Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) uses a Colt Model 654 with a 20-round magazine during the climax of the pilot episode. Several SRT members throughout the series also use them. It is noted as a Model 654 by its lack of forward assist.
A Ruger AC556 is carried by a SRT member in various episodes, both with folding stocks and full stocks. Ludovici Armstrong (Jim Zubiena) use one in the climax of The Hit List.

The restrictor for the blanks was installed in the flash suppressor instead of in the barrel. The Director wanted to shoot a continuous motion master of the entire scene from first shot to last (going through the window). That entailed firing approx. 60-80 rounds of automatic machine gunning with 2 reloads of 30 rnd mags after the initial mag. was in place. The camera was set up in front of the window with a large Lexan sheet between myself and the camera operators. During the portion of the scene where I am in the air jumping over Ms. Montgomery in the doorway I was hit with something in my left shoulder near the collarbone which spun me around to the left and knocked me on my..... you know. A bit dazed 'we' asked what that was all about and realized quickly that the suppressor had expanded due to the amount of heat created by the many rounds. It slipped off of the threads and went flying at the Lexan. It proceeded to come back at me with enough force to spin and put me down. At the time I didn't freak about it but later realized it could have been bad if it had hit me just about anywhere in the head. Lesson learned ????? M16A1s are seen in many episodes of the show. They are used by the MDPD SRT members in various episodes.
Bramlin (Keith Szarabajka) and one of his men use original, bolt assist-less M16s with M16A1 flash Hiders in "Glades". The M16s switch with the M16A1s because of Continuity errors. Several characters, including SRT members in "The Maze", also use M16s. Tubbs' also uses one in "Out Where the Buses Don't Run", which switched from being an M16A1 in a continuity error.
Several Colombian soldiers in the opening scene in "The Prodigal Son" are armed with Norinco Type 56-1 rifles, fitted with AKM style muzzle brakes to pass them off as AKMSs. It is indentified as a Norinco by the front sight, which is the .75" style, instead of the .5" of the AKM/AKMS. (Thanks to MT2008 for identifying this one)
One of the Colombian soldiers in the beginning of "The Prodigal Son" is seen holding a Heckler & Koch HK91 rifle. It is noted as so by the trigger group and the lack of grenade ring.
Stan Switek uses an M1A Carbine fitted with a triangular folding stock during the Everglades shootout in "The Prodigal Son". He uses the same rifle during the shootout with Pinchada's thugs in "Out Where the Buses Don't Run". His gun is identified as an M1A by it's rear sight.

Tubbs uses a Colt CAR-15 rifle during the flashback to his brother's death in the pilot episode. A DEA Agent can be seen with slung over his back during the drug bust in "Back in the World", noted by it's flash hider.
Used by Ludovici Armstrong (Jim Zubiena) to snipe at Crockett (Don Johnson) in the episode The Hit List.
According to Jim Zubiena on the Miami-Vice.org forum he recalls the rifle being a Steyr. See discussion page for further details.
When Tubbs goes to see Crockett in the morning, Crockett, having found out that Tubbs isn't who he said he was, pulls a flare gun on him, demanding that he tell Crockett who he is and threatening to "blow up his intestines like Cape Canaveral".
A FIM-92A Stinger is used by Gentle (Al Garrison), one of Tony Amato (Bruce Willis)'s in "No Exit". A Stinger is also used by IRA arms dealers in "When Irish Eyes are Crying", notably using one to destroy Crockett's beloved Ferrari Daytona Spyder.
