The King's Choice is a 2016 Norwegian war drama directed by Erik Poppe that tells the events of the German invasion of Norway in April 1940. On April 9, 1940, the Germans invade Norway with warships and bombers. The aging King Haakon VII and Crown Prince Olav, however, do not want to collaborate with the Nazis and support the resistance. The royal family has to flee from the advancing troops by train. Meanwhile, the German envoy Curt Bräuer desperately tries to reach a truce.
The 2015 movie April 9th describes the events of the Danish occupation.
The following weapons were used in the film The King's Choice:
The Oscarsborg Fortress is equipped with 28 cm Krupp Coastal Guns. The guns seen in the movie are genuine. Two of these guns, with personal names Moses and Aron, heavily contributed in sinking the Kriegsmarine heavy cruiser Blücher of the Kriegsschiffgruppe 5 on April 9, 1940.
