The Road to Glory

The Road to Glory is a 1936 American movie directed by Howard Hawks. France during the early stage of World War One: Free-thinking Lt. Michel Denet is assigned to Capt. Paul La Roche's troop. Soon, he fell in love with the nurse La Roche's unaware that she is the girlfriend of his superior. Meanwhile, the war continues unceasingly.
This is the American remake of the 1932 French movie Wooden Crosses of which many fight scenes have been cut in.

Mauser Gewehr 1898
The first weapon seen in the movie is a German Gewehr 1898 carried by the French Courier (Jacques Lory) at the beginning. During the Urban battle, some German soldiers can also be seen with this rifle, but these scenes are cut in from the French movie.
Berthier Mle. 1907/15
Berthier Mle 1907-15 rifles are used by French infantrymen including the Tall Sergeant (Victor Kilian), the "Russian soldier (Gregory Ratoff) and Pvt. Morin (Lionel Barrymore).
Lebel Mle. 1886
The scenes where Lebel 1886 rifles can be seen are not directed by Howard Hawks.
