Poster

Escape from New York (1981) While this particular image from the poster doesn't represent an actual scene in the film, it did inspire a scene in the film Cloverfield.

Comparison photos of 67 and 19

Dillinger why do you keep taking away the photo of the Model 19? I like the comparison photos and you seem to be the only one who has an issue with it. What's the big deal? If you're going to do that at least build a page for yourself so we can exchange messages. --Jcordell 17:11, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

They were take off again, and I've reverted them back. Granted it's since been showing the Models 65 and 66 but nonetheless like JCordell, I too don't mind having those other gun images there to visually show and emphasize the comparative differences - Similar deals are done on a few other pages, not that much really but still. Either way, it's been fine for this long - I don't really see the harm in letting them stay. StanTheMan (talk) 14:31, 13 November 2016 (EST)

Model 36 or Model 10?

Bob Hauk does a round check.

Bob Hauk with his Smith & Wesson Model 36.

I think I was wrong about Hauk with a Model 36 (Model 36 was already listed on the page too), the front sight looks to be the rounded style seen on the early Model 10 snubs. --Predator20 12:59, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

- Another sharp spot there, Pred. I'd have to concur myself. StanTheMan 23:55, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

- Is it just me, or does the trigger guard on Hauk's gun look huge?--Max Deployment 14:35, 6 February 2012 (CST)

It probably just looks out of proportion because of the short barrel and the fact his finger is out of the trigger guard. --Maxman (talk) 00:12, 7 August 2016 (EDT)

Shuriken

Hey guys. I haven't seen this movie in a while, and I couldn't remember; does Snake use the shuriken that are laid out with his gear? Thanks. -SasquatchJim

Yes, he uses at least one on a guard outside the subway train at Duke's. Max Deployment 14:37, 6 February 2012 (CST)

Fun trivia fact

Interesting bit of movie trivia here, on the film's poster where it shows the head of the Statue of Liberty in the middle of a street in New York City, such a scene never happens in the film. However, 27 years later, the filmmakers of Cloverfield got their idea of the scene when New York is first attacked and the Statue of Liberty's head is being thrown into a building and falling into the middle of a street from the poster of Escape from New York. Pretty neat huh? --ThatoneguyJosh 06:20, 10 March 2011 (MSK)

That apparently was J.J. Abrams idea, who was disappointed that after seeing the Statue of Liberty's head on the poster that it wasn't actually in the film. --Ben41 12:30, 10 March 2011 (MSK)

Oh yeah I forgot, that was J.J.'s idea. I read up on it again and found out it was his idea. My mistake. --ThatoneguyJosh 03:57, 15 March 2011 (CDT)
Also the HEAD of the Statue of Liberty on the movie poster is WAY OUT of SCALE. It's huge!!!! Compared to the real thing. hahahahah MoviePropMaster2008 01:14, 16 November 2011 (CST)
Maybe it's supposed to be a representation of the American people's collective ego? You can't deny we have one that's sky high, right? I mean, we bitch and cry about things that would be paradise for someone living in a third world country. You complain when the garbage service doesn't run on time? Try having no garbage service at all and being forced to literally live in your own filth like many poor communities around the world have to do. Spartan198 (talk) 12:17, 25 September 2018 (EDT)

Should Snake's MAC-10 get its own page?

I would argue that this weapon is not just iconic but unique. I'd really like to see it have its own page where we could identify the parts. I have some info (and speculation) to share but I don't want to clutter the main page if it's inappropriate. Max Deployment 14:42, 6 February 2012 (CST)

All it is is a MAC-10 with some small embellishments; I'm not sure that would constitute as a fictional weapon.
Not even the whole gun. All the embellishments appear to be focused on the suppressor. Take that away, and it's just a regular MAC-10. --Funkychinaman 16:10, 6 February 2012 (CST)

MAC-10 bolt and ejection question

In the scene where Snake meets Brain, he threatens Brain by pulling back the bolt to open it, similar in fashion to the way a movie character cocks a revolver's hammer to intimidate someone. Now wouldn't doing this eject a chambered round? --DarvinJr (talk) 15:33, 10 November 2013 (EST)

MAC-10s are open bolt, like most SMGs at the time, so pulling the bolt back actually prepares it for firing. --Funkychinaman (talk) 15:38, 10 November 2013 (EST)
Yeah, it's basically akin to pulling back the hammer on a Single Action Army. Spartan198 (talk) 12:19, 25 September 2018 (EDT)

Promo Pic Rifle

Saw this recently, he's holding what appears to be some sort of M16 based rifle.
