vz. 52 - 7.62x45mm or 7.62x39mm

The vz. 52 rifle, officially named Samonabíjecí puška vzor 52, meaning "self-loading rifle model 1952", is a Czechoslovakian carbine. The rifle is sometimes erroneously called CZ 52 rifle or S.H.E. rifle. CZ 52 officially refers to the pistol, not the rifle.

The vz. 52 was originally chambered for the 7.62x45mm (vz. 52) cartridge, but was rechambered for the more ubiquitous 7.62x39mm in later manufactured versions. Those rechambered for 7.62x39mm were designated vz. 52/57.

This unique rifle was in service in the Czechoslovakian armed forces from 1952 to 1959, before being replaced by the Sa vz. 58 assault rifle. The Warsaw pact provided surplus vz. 52 and vz. 52/57 rifles to Grenada, Somalia, Cuba and Afghanistan. As a result, this rifle can plausibly be seen in Central/South America, Eastern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East as a surplus weapon.

The Vz. 52 Rifle and variants can be seen in the following films, television series, video games, and anime used by the following actors:
