Kalashnikov (also known as AK-47 in the West) is a 2020 Russian biographical drama directed by Konstantin Buslov about the inventor of the AK-47 Mikhail Kalashnikov. The film takes place from 1943 to 1949. At the beginning of the war, a tankman, senior sergeant Mikhail Kalashnikov, performs a combat task at the cost of a severe injury. After his hospital stay, in a series of life-long searches, he begins inventive activities, achieves participation in all-Union weapons competitions, where he competes on equal terms with leading inventors, and builds a relationship with his future wife Ekaterina. As a result, the developed AK is adopted, and the inventor is awarded the Stalin prize.
