Discussion/Etc

Okay everybody, I'm making it my mission to get this page finished, so I need a few things. First, can anyone check the S&W model used in the pilot? I just saw it today, but I can't recognize the model. It looks like 4506, but all the S&W semi-autos look the same to me. Seconde, can anyone confirm what 92 Norris uses? I think it's at least supposed to be a Beretta (seeing as how Trivette coments on the price), but it might be a Taurus used as a Beretta stand-in. Finally, can anyone check the model of revolver used by both Walker and the pilot's CD? - Snake Doc

Here's what I can tell you...
  • Contrary to what the page says, there are almost no Beretta 92Fs ("M9" is the wrong designation for civilian models) used in the show. Most of the bad guys and cops use Taurus PT92s.
  • Walker used a nickel-plated Taurus PT92 in several of the later seasons. He did use a two-tone Beretta 92FS (with a nickel barrel and frame, and a black slide) in one season, I can't remember which. But the all-nickel gun he uses is actually a Taurus.
  • The S&W I remember as a 4506, but I will have to check again.
Hope that helps. -MT2008 05:18, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks MT. One more thing, can anyone confirm what type of S&W revolver Walker uses, I did some checking, and I think it might be a pre-war Registered Magnum. I know that's basically a 27, but the rarity of the RM makes me think it'd be the perfect gun for Walker.

Shotguns. In the Pilot, the Remington 870 Walker had looked like a short-barreled Scattergun Technologies model. Later on, he had a Remington 870 Marine Magnum fitted w/ a SideSaddle, as noted by the finish. - BC2009 25 March 2010

Does anyone know the revolver C.D. used in "An Innocnet Man" (1x12)? It looks like a Colt SAA or a possibly and old S&W (possibly a model 15).

Sydney and Gage's sidearm

Snake Doc: Sydney and Gage actually carry a Smith & Wesson Performance Center PC9 MKIII Two- Tone. This is a variant of the Shorty 40 series. I was able to identify it from the Season 8 opening credits after comparing with various 3rd generation S&W autos. During Nia Peeples' credit roll, they took part of the shootout scene from the episode "Tall Cotton", where she emerges from taking cover with her PC9 drawn. It has distinctive features which are easily identifiable in that shot: 6906 muzzle face styling, rearward tapering of the dust cover, black slide and satin alloy frame with rounded smooth surface trigger guard; the barrel, barrel ring and recoil assembly are all stainless; the 2 satin trim accents on the left and right edges behind the magazine well.

Check out this forum thread to see the exact version: http://okshooters.com/forums/showthread.php?p=168036

In Season #8, Walker carried a Smith & Wesson Model 945. In the second half of the season, he had switched back to the Taurus that he used in the previous seasons.

In Season #9, Walker carried a Smith & Wesson auto, similar to the ones used by Gage & Cooke. It looked like it came from the Smith & Wesson Performance Center as well. The pistol is a bit larger that the compact 9's used by Gage & Cooke, and I can't tell the caliber of the weapon. It is best seen in Season 9, Episode #8, titled "Retribution".

Lastly, I'm pretty sure that Walker's Smith & Wesson Model 66, referred to on the page is actually a Smith & Wesson Model 60.

I recently acquired a set of Modelgun Company (MGC) M1 carbines that the seller claimed were used on Walker: Texas Ranger. For those not familiar with model guns, the are Japanese replica or toy guns usually made of zinc-alloy or plastic materials designed to highly replicate the physical outlook (some bear the authentic trademarks and markings too) and in full scale of the real gun counterpart. More info can be found on Wikipedia. I am not a huge fan of the show (despite living in Texas and having met a few actual Rangers), but this was the first place I came to find out if M1 carbines were ever used in the show. Since none are listed, I thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance! ~~ MajorMadMax

Walker, Texas Ranger (1993-2001)

The following guns were used in the television series Walker, Texas Ranger.

Taurus PT92

The Taurus PT92 is used as a stand-in for the Beretta 92 on the show. Carried by many law enforcement officers, villains, and military personnel. Most notably carried by Cordell Walker (Chuck Norris) throughout the series as his primary sidearm. His was nickel plated with custom pearl grips that had the Ranger's star engraved on them. He carried it in a unique strap holster. It was lost in a lake during a plane crash in first episode of season seven. Notable other users of the "Beretta 92" are Joey Prado in the episode "Rookie" (he uses a silenced version to stage a mock killing), the gunrunner "Trigger" in the first season episode "End Run," and the sergeant in the episode, "The Fighting McLains."

Smith and Wesson Model 29

Walker carries a Smith and Wesson Model 29 with a 4" barrel in the first season and a half. He loses it in the "Rainbow Warrior" episode of season 2. The weapon was hit by a bullet from a Tech-9, which destroyed the cylinder. The bore diameter suggests that it is a .44 magnum 29. The gun also seems to be loaded with cartridges that produce a large amount of smoke for theatrical effect.

Walther P5

Walker's partner James Trivette (Clarence Gilyard Jr.) carries a Walther P-5 from season 2 onwards. He previously used a black SIG P226 and carried it in a hip holster. He began carrying the P-5 in a shoulder rig starting in Season 2.

Smith & Wesson Model 640 Centennial

Carried primarily by CD in it's snub-nose form, throughout the middle seasons of the series. Also carried by other law enforcement officers and by some criminals as well.

Smith & Wesson Model 686

Carried by law enforcement and criminals throughout the series. Most notably carried by a corrupt courtroom guard in the episode "End Run." After walker confiscates his 686 with wood grips and a four inch barrel, Walker hands it to Trivette to use in a high speed gun battle and chase with a crew of gunrunners.

Smith & Wesson Model 10 Military & Police

Carried by many law enforcement officers and criminals throughout the series, primarily in it's four inch barrel guise.

Smith & Wesson Model 66

Carried by Walker as a backup gun in the early season, most notably in Season 3, Episode 19: "Case Closed", where Walker goes out at night- armed with his Smith & Wesson Model 66 Snub nose - to meet a vigilante wannabe ranger who has set out to kill acquitted criminals, and kidnaps Walker's secretary to lure him into an ambush. Also used by detective friends of Walker.

Season 5, Episode 26 : "Rookie" - used by drug dealer Victor Solano (Damon Collazo). Solano uses the gun to kill three drug suppliers in the opening scene of the episode, and then later he holds Joey Prado at gunpoint in a cemetery.

Season 6, Episode 13 : "Tribe" - Carried by head FBI agent on the reservation who uses his snub nose model 66 when engaging the oil/construction thugs in a shootout in a small town on the Texas- Oklahoma border.

Looking at some of those shows, I'm pretty sure that Walker's back up gun was a Smith & Wesson Model 60, not a 66.

Intratec TEC-9

Used by innumerable gangsters, thugs, and various villeins on the show. It seems nearly every episode has at least one nameless bad guy carrying a TEC-9.

USP Match

Seen especially prominently in one episode in which the leader of a gang of burglars uses this weapon to kill a security guard then plants it on a teenager whom he lets take the blame for the crime.

M16A1

Carried by various military personal, lawmen, and criminals throughout the series. Confiscated from a group of gunrunners who spring their fellow gang member out of trial at the beginning of the episode "End Run." Walker identifies it as "M16, vintage, Vietnam." Gunrunners are seen shooting a similar weapon in the following scene.

M16A2

Carried by military personnel and criminals throughout the series.

Heckler & Koch MP5

A bad guy hunting walker is seen with one, before walker jumps out of the leaves and incapacitates him. Walker also uses one from the back of a speeding police truck at the beginning of the season 2 episode "Road to Black Bayou," in an intense drug bust. In the previous episode ("Rainbow Warrior), Walker's revolver is broken when it gets shot by an oil tycoon and his hired guns on the Cherokee reservation. Those men also use mp5's. At the end of the episode, Walker is given his nickel plated Beretta M9 at CD's by CD, Alex, and Trivette. Trivette remarks that the gun was very expensive, and Walker calls it a "Beauty."

Winchester Model 1894

Used by several characters, including rangers. It is also used in the fifth season episode called "Chief" by Walker's two friends, the Reservation Policemen Sam Coyote and Black Fox. They use the rifles during a shootout with a thug who works for an oil company and who tried to frame Coyote for the killing of an archeologist. The rifle is also used by rangers during a drug bust outside a run down shack in Part 1 of the episode "Something out of the shadows."

SIG-Sauer P220 pistol series

Walker is seen with a nickel SIG-Sauer P226 pistol in the Pilot episode. Trivette also carried one during season 1, before switching to a Walther P-5 at the beginning of season 2. Walker's original partner, who was killed in the pilot, also carried a P226. The issuance of this gun is accurate, as it is the official sidearm of the Texas Rangers. The leader of the robbers in the season 2 episode "Flashback" wielded a nickel 226 alongside a Beretta 92. Interestingly, in "Silk Dreams" (2x3), Trivette uses a nickel P226 to shoot Walker in Alex's nightmares.

Also, in Season 8, Walker had a Smith and Wesson Model 945 during the first half of the season. Halfway through the season, he switched back to the Taurus.

Smith & Wesson .45 CQB Performance Center

Walker carries a Smith & Wesson Performance Center CQB in .45 ACP starting in Season 9 until the end of the series.

Colt Single Action Army

During the early years of the show, retired Ranger C.D. Parker carries a Colt SAA as his personal sidearm on several occasions. He also apparently carried the weapon when he was an active duty Ranger, as seen in "An Innocent Man". During the season 2 episode "Flashback", Hays Cooper(Chuck Norris) uses two SAA's. What looks to be a cavalry model and later a silver "quickdraw" model. The leader of the Dealy Gang used 2 of these in his final gunfight with Hays Cooper. The use of the SAA is anachronistic because the episode tales place in 1866. The SAA was not produced until 1873.
