Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising is a 2004 first-person shooter computer game from Novalogic. Set in Indonesia in the near future, Joint Operations takes the player to a country on the verge of disintegration. Regional independence movements have acquired advanced weaponry as the nation's military splits into competing factions. Escalating violence threatens innocent civilians and Western economic interests.
The following weapons appear in the video game Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising and its expansion pack Joint Operations: Escalation:
Secondary weapon for all Joint Ops classes. It is a stand-in for the military M9. Called "M9 Baretta" ( note incorrect spelling, possibly a confusion between the American manufacturer Barrett and the Italian manufacturer Beretta ) ingame. This substitution also appears in Call of Duty's ModernWarfare series.
Primary weapon for Riflemen and Medic class of both sides. Is also available suppressed. Appears as "MP5-10" and "MP5 Suppressed". Both MP5s have the curved 30rd magazines.
The Colt Model 654 appears in the armory. It is probably the only weapon in the entire game to make an appearance and be inaccessible to the player at the same time.
Primary weapon for all Joint Ops classes. Available with and without the M203 grenade launcher to the Rifleman class. Called "M16" and "M16/M203" respectively.
Primary weapon for the Joint Ops Riflemen, Medic and Engineer classes. Available with and without the M203 grenade launcher to the Rifleman class. Called "M4" and "M4/M203" respectively.

Norinco Type 56
Primary weapon for all Rebel classes. Available with and without the GP-30 grenade launcher to the Rifleman class. Called "AK-47" and "AK-47/GP-25" respectively Although it appears as the AK-47, the version in-game clearly has a hooded front sight.

Rather than having the under-folding pig-sticker Bayonet assembly, this has the standard bayonet lug underneath the gas block as the AKM and later variants.Error creating thumbnail: File missingThe front sight is waaaaaay to short on this rifle to be actually useful.
Norinco Type 84S
Primary weapon for all Rebel classes. Available with and without the GP-30 grenade launcher to the Rifleman class. Called "AK-74" and "AK-74/GP-25" respectively. Like the alleged AK-47, this actually is a Norinco Type 84. Oddly, the magazine appears to be 5.45x39mm, which would be correct for the AK-74.
Added with the Escalation expansion pack. Available to the Engineer class of both sides. The launcher needs to lock-on before it can be fired. The weapon was added as a countermeasure to the tanks that the expansion pack brought in.
The only anti-air weapon, available only to the Engineer classes of both sides. An oddity during a short time after the release of the game (the developers reacted to the community criticism later on) was that the Stinger was close to obsolete over short distances; it required two missiles to take down an aerial vehicle, while the AT4 only needed one. Called "Stinger".
Available to both sides as "Mortar". When the 60 mm mortar is deployed, the player aims by way of a small map in the upper left corner of the screen. The yellow circle marks the AOE. It´s size increases with greater distance from the shooter.
