Season 3 of True Detective features Mahershala Ali as Wayne Hays and Stephen Dorff as his partner Roland West, two state police detectives from Arkansas investigating a macabre crime involving two missing children across three time periods (1980,1990 and 2015). Nic Pizzolato, who wrote all eight episodes of Season 1 , scripted all eight episodes of Season 3, with David Milch and Graham Gordy assisting him in scripting two, and several episodes were directed by Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room ). Season 3 premiered on HBO on January 13, 2019.
