Talk:Starsky and Hutch (TV Series)
The following firearms were used in the first season of the NBC television series Starsky and Hutch:
Handguns
Colt Python
The Colt Python is the main sidearm carried by Det. Kenneth 'Hutch' Hutchinson (David Soul). Hutch's gun is simply bigger because it had a large barrel length (6 inch) his weapon is a colt python revolver and at the beginning of the series first episode Savage Sunday he carried that gun which had a 4 inch barrel. The character Zak Tyler in the episode Texas Longhorn also carries the same weapon but his gun had a 6 inch barrel, when filming of that episode was complete, David Soul asked if he could carry that as Hutch's weapon throughout the series, the gun was fitted with rubber grips and this became Hutch's weapon for the remainder of the series.
Dave Starsky used a S&W model 59, not the model 39, noted by the straight backstrap over the arched of the Model 39.
Toys
I actually owned these two toy guns back in 1977 when I was ............................(wait for it...........................nine years old! I remember the box with particular clarity. Actually I wore out the first wo and bought another set. The triggers and hammers worked. Rubber band powered. Loved those toys. Never mind that Hutch carried a Colt Python and not a Smith & Wesson Model 19. They were scale model reproductions. It is closer in size to the K frame then the N frame. I know it could also be the Smith & Wesson Model 29. Nowadays a kids would have the police called on them for playing with such an a life-like toy (that would be me sadly). They were great. I understand they have some collector's value in 2018. Wish I had known that forty years ago.--Jcordell (talk) 11:04, 28 April 2018 (EDT)
