Escape from Tarkov is a first-person shooter video game by BattleState Games. The game is set in Russia in 2028, in the same universe as Contract Wars. The game features a highly detailed and realistic combat system, with subsystem damage, realistic weapon handling, a complex array of tactical maneuvers like leaning, and an equally detailed weapon modification system.
The following weapons are used in the video game Escape from Tarkov:
Handguns
Chiappa Rhino (20DS, 40DS, 50DS, 60DS)
Every variant of the Chiappa Rhino has been shown in pre-release renders, but has not yet been added in any of the released versions of the game.
Makarov 6P9 PB
The Makarov 6P9 PB variant of the Makarov is available in the game. It spawns rarely on Scavengers and can be traded for bartering items by the Trader Prapor. Like the Makarov PM, only its grip and magazines can be removed. An 80 round drum magazine can also be attached to the weapon, however its exceedingly rare.
Makarov PM
The Makarov PM is a fairly common pistol in EFT. PMC's will have a few available in their stash and the weapon is fairly common loot in Military Cargo crates, Scavengers both Player and AI NPC's may occassionally use a Makarov PM as their starting weapon. A special variant exists in-game called the PM (t) which has a threaded barrel to accept sound suppressors. Currently only the grip and magazine can be removed from the weapon and an 80 round drum magazine is also available, albiet extremely rare.
MP-443 Grach
The MP-443 Grach fills the role of a higher-end pistol found uncommonly in the game. The Russian BEAR's faction will give PMC's the pistol in their stash in the latest patch when chosen. Scav's can also spawn with the pistol as well with a few magazines on hand, on occassion a Scav may have their Grach equipped with an under-barrel weaponlight. Currently the weapon cannot be suppressed but it can accept attachments via its underbarrel rail and can be outfitted with a slide rail for attaching reflex optics.
SIG-Sauer P226R
The SIG-Sauer P226R is the only non-Russian pistol available in the game so far primarily issued to the USEC Faction of which PMC's will get some in their stash when the faction is chosen. The weapon also is available for Scavengers albiet sometimes missing its front and rear sight and rarely equipped with an underbarrel weaponlight.
Tokarev TT-33
The Tokarev TT-33 is a dated, but viable pistol available in the game. It is infrequently carried by AI Scav's in-game and is a rare spawn for Player Scav's. Currently the TT-33 is the only weapon to utilise the 7,62x25mm round of which 7 types are available. Currently it is the most powerful pistol, dropping a PMC or Scav in about two or three shots without armor depending on the round type. Additionally the TT-33 can be outfitted with a "home-spun" threaded barrel and an home-made suppressor, making it one of the earliest and most cost effective suppressed pistols currently in the game.
Stetchkin APS
The Stechkin APS has been confirmed by developers and officially announced, but not yet added.
SR1MP
The SR1MP is Russian special forces pistol "kit" that includes the SR1 pistol, a sound suppressor, and quad-rail accessory mount. It is the only 9x21mm weapon in the game so far.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5
The H&K MP5 is available in the game. Currently it is not used by any Scavengers and only acquired by PMC's via the trader "Peacekeeper" once sufficent reputation has been gained. The version featured in-game appears to be either an A4 or an A5 model due to the four position fire selector but is described in-game as being a Navy Model. It comes available in two variants initially, an MP5A4 and an MP5SD5 both of which are fitted with fixed stocks and only differing slightly in price value. Players can customize the MP5 extensively by removing the Fixed Stock for a collapsible Stock however it cannot currently mount under-barrel attachments such as flashlights or grips. A drum magazine was announced on December 9th, 2017.
Izhmash PP-19-01 Vityaz
The Izhmash PP-19-01 Vityaz. The PP-19-01 "Vityaz" is a 9x19mm sub-machine gun and currently is not used by Scavengers. It can be acquired by PMC's from purchasing it from the Trader Prapor at level 1 reputation and the BEARS Faction recieves the weapon with the "Prepare to Escape" and "Escape from Darkness" editions. Currently the weapon is the cheapest of the SMG's and the earliest the player can modify extensively. In the current patch, changes were made to address the weapons viscious recoil whch has been rectified.
A semi-automatic pistol carbine variant known as the "Saiga-9" was added which is now used by Scav's with 10 round magazines but is interchangeable with regular 30 round magazines. It can deonated as a civilian weapon by it's 16 Inch long barrel and is semi-automatic only but can still utlise many attachments which can be mounted onto the PP-19-01.
Izhmash PP-91 "Kedr"
The Izhmash PP-91 "Kedr". There are two variants in-game, the standard "Kedr" and the "Kedr-B". The "B" variant features a threaded barrel to accept sound suppressors and other muzzle devices. Currently the "Kedr" is infrequently used by AI Scav's in world and can be bought by the Trader Prapor, the "Kedr-B" can be traded with Prapor for various barting items. Currently the "Kedr" as of the current patch has been nerfed considerably from previous patches, with it's damage against armor almost nill even with AP ammunition, additionally it cannot use PMM ammunition and is restricted to the older PBM ammunition type as far AP ammunition (which still has trouble penetrating low tier armor). The weapon can be outfitted with a barrel mounted rails for sights and weaponlights and can utilise 20 round or 30 round stick magaiznes of which the latter can only be purchased with bartering items.
Izhmash PP-9 "Klin"
The Izhmash PP-9 "Klin". It is a special variant of the Kedr that is available from Prapor for purchase via bartering items and as of the current patch does not spawn on AI Scavengers. It has slightly different recoil patterns than the "Kedr" and has a 900 RPM fire rate but can utilise the same attachments and magazines and use PBM and PMM AP ammunition.
SIG-Sauer MPX
The SIG-Sauer MPX. It is only available for use by PMC's and can bought by the trader Peacekeeper. It is the most versatile of the SMG's and features two variants like the MP5, a standard variant and another variant with an Integral suppressor. It is the second fast firing SMG at 850 RPM and can attach the most attachments compared to the MP5.
Assault Rifles
AS Val
The AS Val. The AS Val is a late-game weapon available from the trader Prapor of which it can only be bought with barting items. While the effective range and muzzle velocity of the 9x39mm round is fairly low, it boasts one of the highest damage per bullet in the game with very high armor penetration. In addition it has the fastest rate of fire at 900 RPM of which only the Kedr and Klin SMG variants have.
Colt M4A1
The Colt M4A1. The M4A1 is currently available at the trader "Peacekeeper" at level 3 reputation and sells for anywhere between $900-1100 per unit. It is the MOST customizable weapon in the game with a multitude of options for rails, grips, stocks, magazines and many others. It is also currently the only weapon in the game that uses the 5,56x45mm round of which is a great general purpose round as it has high velocity, damage and penetration with its only downside being cost of ammo and magazines.
Izhmash AK-74N
The Izhmash AK-74N is available from Prapor at level 2, and can be purchased with or without ammunition. The weapon features plenty of customization options from manufacturers like Zenitco, CAA, Magpul, and TAPCO. The rifle can also be traded for, and that one features a black polymer stock and black polymer handguards. An all black variant which resembles the AK-74M is available from Prapor to trade however a player can easily convert a 74N into the 74M with the correct attachments.
AKM
Several flavors of the AKM are available in game:
- The original AKM with a fixed wood stock. By default, it has a stamped receiver with no provision for mounting sights, but there is also an "AKMN" variant with the scope mount bracket on the left side of the receiver.
- The AKMS with the underfolding stock, which can be folded to take up less inventory space. As with the regular AKM, there is a "AKMSN" variant with the side rail for mounting optics or a sight rail.
- The VEPR KM / VPO-136 semi-automatic only carbine, a civilian variant of the AKM. It lacks the slant muzzle brake and is semi-automatic only, and is a bit cheaper in game and is used by Scavs. Fires the same 7.62x39mm ammunition as its select fire counterparts.
- The Molot VPO-209 semi-automatic "shotgun," another civilian variant of the AKM that is meant to be easy to acquire in real life as it falls under the classification of a shotgun by Russian government standards. It has a smoothbore barrel (with "paradox rifling" on the last 120mm) and fires the .366 TKM cartridge.
Izhmash AKS-74U
The Izhmash AKS-74U is one of the earlier and cheaper weapons that can purchased from the trader "Prapor". They are somewhat uncommonly used by Scavs, who prefer Grach pistols, MP-133's, and 153's. Those that are carried by Scavs tend to lack top covers, stocks, and muzzle devices. It can be outfitted with a variety of custom furniture pieces, mostly ones from Zenitco. There are 2 variants, the AKS-74UN, which has a side rail for optics and optic mounts, and the AKS-74UB. The modeled UB is technically a UBN as it features a side rail for optics. In addition, the only muzzle device compatible with the UB is the PBS-4, and the weapon retains the RPK-style rear sight, but has the leaf sight itself removed.
Battle Rifles
Izhmash SKS
The Izhmash SKS. The SKS is available in Escape from Tarkov and is available in two variants, the standard model and the OP-SKS, a civilian hunting version with a prefitted dovetail optic mount attached. The standard model is occasionally found on Scav's and can only mount optics at later reputation levels when the required mounts are unlocked. The OP-SKS model is only used by Scav Snipers and is often found with a PSO-1 Scope fitted. All SKS types currently in the game sport Tapco 20 round detachable magazines, the 10 round internal magazine options and 10 round detachable magazines are currently not featured in the current iteration of the game.
Shotguns
Baikal MP-43
The Baikal MP-43. The MP-43 despite being shown in early trailers is not actually featured in the current game.
Baikal MR-133
The Baikal MP-133. The MR-133 is a pump-action shotgun which is commonly used by Scavengers as a primary weapon and is frequently used by traders as a bartering item. It comes with a factory installed 6 round magazine tube and a 510mm barrel. A set of barrel lengths and magazine tubes can be purchased from Skier at various reputation levels and many of the attachments that can be fitted with both the MR-133 and the MP-153 are interchangeable in the current patch. Currently a somewhat infamous weapon modification of the weapon, dubbed the "Pentalight" allows the weapon to mount upto 5 weaponlights onto the weapon at one time with the correct attachments.
Baikal MP-153
The Baikal MP-153. The MP-153 is a semi-automatic 12 gauge shotgun and is very popular amongst AI Scav's. By default it can be purchased from Skier at level 1 and comes with a factory installed 750mm barrel and a 4 round internal tube magazine. Most attachments such as magazine tubes, pistol grips and stocks are interchangeable with the MR-133 and MP-153.
Izhmash Saiga-12K
The Izhmash Saiga-12K. The Saiga-12K is a semi-automatic, magazine-fed, 12 Gauge shotgun. It is occasionally carried by Scavengers as a primary weapon often times missing the dust cover. Unlike most shotguns it features a folding stock reducing its size but its limited to 5 round magazines. It is also the only shotgun which can be suppressed, the suppressor can be purchased from prapor level 3 but is rather costly. It is the most effective shotgun when utilising slugs having the best accuracy and recoil control as a number of grips can be attached with the appriopriate weapon mounts.
TOZ-106
A fairly atypical shotgun design, the TOZ-106 is bolt action, 20 gauge, compact survival shotgun with an underfolding stock designed for civilian use. It is another popular Scav weapon, and feeds from detachable 2 or 4 round magazines.
Sniper Rifles
Izhmash SV-98
The Izhmash SV-98. The SV-98 becomes available from prapor at level 2 reputation where it be purchased with a number of bartering items, it doesn't officially become purchaseable until level 3 reputation where it costs nearly 100,000 roubles. It comes standard without optics, a 10 round magazine and a bipod fitted by default. Most of maps in the current game are not made for the large magnification scopes and most players fit smaller 3x and 4x magnification scopes to the weapon. It can utilise only three types of rounds, these being the 7N1 sniper cartridge, SNB Armor Peircing and LPS GzH which is a lightened match round with hightened velocity.
Lobaev DVL-10
The Lobaev DVL-10. The DVL-10 comes in two variants in the game, the standard version and a integrelly suppressed version known as the "SABOTEUR". It is an exceedly rare sniper rifle that uses 7,62x51mm ammunition and becomes available from Skier at late reputation levels. Like the SV-98 most maps are not compatible with the larger magnification and so players fit smaller 3-4x magnification scopes to compensate.
Remington R11 RSASS
The Remington RSASS is also available in game, as an expensive but highly capable and modular 7.62x51mm rifle. Some players have designed a modification of the weapon known as the "Mini-SASS", an ultra-compact battle rifle variant which is identical in size to some of the larger SMG's.
VSS Vintorez
The VSS Vintorez. The VSS is a late-game sniper rifle available at Prapor Level 4. It can only be traded for items like the AS VAL and comes pre-fitted with 10 round VSS magazines. Currently it does not use it's own unique VSS Scope instead opted for a regular PSO-1 Optic. It is an extremely rare weapon to find, even inside weapon crates.
Machine Guns
Launchers
GP-34
The GP-34. Previously featured in the early Alpha stages of the game, the GP-34 was removed shortly a few early game patches due to problems with damage issues (the weapon didn't do any damage when fitted). Despite this the 40mm VOG grenades can be found in-game, albiet rarely and serve the player mostly as a collectible.
Grenades & Explosives
F-1 hand grenade
The F-1 hand grenade. It is the most lethal of the three grenades with the largest splash radius of almost 30m and the most damage. This makes it useful for enemies hiding behind cover, as the damage can hurt or kill those hiding behind light and medium grade materials. The F-1 grenade is sometimes used by Scavengers often times killing themselves in the process due to the blast radius.
RGD-5 hand grenade
The RGD-5 hand grenade. The RGD-5 is the least damaging of the three explosive grenades and is also the heaviest, having the shortest throwing distance and smallest blast radius, this makes it ideal for use inside enclosed spaces. However to compensate for its lack of damage, it is also the cheapest and easiest to find with prapor trading RGD-5's for one Energy Saving Lightbulb and being commonly found inside grenade crate and used by AI Scavengers.
M67 Hand Grenade
The M67 is available from the trader Peacekeeper at level 2 reputation whereby it costs roughly between $49-51 a grenade. It is the middle road of the three explosive grenades having damage and blast radius greater than the RGD-5 but less than the F-1 but having one of the furthest throwing distances, making it more useful for open areas. It is also one of the earliest grenades PMC's can buy with currency. Currently AI do not use the grenade and it cannot be found inside any weapon crates.
