Harry's Game was a novel before it was produced as a mini-series on British television in 1982. It's interesting to note that Billy used the Armalite AR-18 throughout the novel instead of the Type 56.That includes the beginning whne he murders the British goverment minister. The novel was written in the mid seventies by Gerald Seymour and at that time the AR-18 had become associated with the IRA. Much like the Thompson Submachine Gun was in the twenties.Jcordell

Yep. Back then, the Provos got most of their weaponry from their idiot identity-challenged Irish-American supporters in the U.S., and the AR-18 and AR-15 (also used heavily by them) were pretty much the only two "assault rifles" available from U.S. gun stores in the 1970s. Of course, as soon as the IRA got in bed with Qaddafi, he sent them all the Soviet bloc weaponry they wanted. -MT2008 22:40, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Oh, yeah, and I know this is unrelated, but...damn I hate the IRA. -MT2008 22:49, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm Irish descent and I don't like them either. Jcordell

Yeah, I actually went to Northern Ireland two years ago. It really saddened me to see the sectarianism and ignorance pervading amongst the people there - a depressing state of affairs. But mostly, I hate the IRA (all of them, the PIRA, CIRA, RIRA, INLA, etc.) because it's full of leftist douchebags who think Ireland would be better off if it became some kind of socialist country after they force the "Brits out". Of course, the Protestant Loyalists are the same kinds of scumbags. -MT2008 23:19, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
