MILAN launcher on Marder IFV - 115mm

MILAN (Missile d’Infranterie Legar ANtichar, "Infantry anti-tank missile" and also a play on the French word for "kite") is a second-generation wire-guided SACLOS anti-tank missile launcher system developed in the 1960s by the Euromissile group, now known as MBDA.

In 2009, with MILAN sales flagging due to the availability of the far more advanced fire-and-forget FGM-148 Javelin and Spike, MBDA began work on the fifth-generation Missile Moyenne Portée (MMP). France began the retirement of all MILAN systems alongside the similarly antiquated ERYX and HOT missiles in 2017: all are planned to be replaced by the MMP with first deployments in 2018 and full adoption by 2025.
