Is there any evidence of this being use by any special forces ever? There's nothing I can see on the internet to support that claim.--Mandolin (talk) 21:31, 28 February 2014 (EST)

Ugh, someone PLEASE rewrite the description paragraphs

They're fine, but they're wholesale plagiarism. They're the first and last paragraphs taken word for word from the Wikipedia page. This can stay until someone re-writes the summary (hopefully with new or different information). MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 01:55, 24 March 2015 (EDT)

Aiming

How, exactly, does one aim this weapon? I can't see sights of any sort on top of it. Pyr0m4n14c (talk) 22:07, 3 December 2017 (EST)

The tube on top might be a sight, but given how few of these thing ever got made (I'd be shocked if there were any outside the one or two in movie prop houses), they may not have gotten that far. Or perhaps you're expected to just dump a dozen grenades on the general area.--Mandolin (talk) 22:31, 3 December 2017 (EST)
It's a tear gas launcher, if you're engaging point targets something has gone very badly wrong. For the Hawk, since it doesn't have a stock this is very much a hipfire weapon. City combat, point and shoot, you've got 12 shots to walk fire onto the target. From what I've read it saw some use in combat in Africa and it's why South Africa went on to develop the MGL which has the advantage that you can actually aim it.
And no, the tube on the top is not a sight, it's a solid bar that connects the two halves of the weapon together, it swivels around that to let you access the cylinder. Evil Tim (talk) 01:28, 4 December 2017 (EST)
Wait... Doesn't the MM1 fire explosive grenades as well? ---Ultimate94ninja (talk) 04:43, 4 December 2017 (EST)
Technically it can, but with no sight and the potency of a 40mm HE shell, I think you'd be inclined to just load it with CS or buckshot rounds instead. I think that's the main reason why most of the MM1's you see in movies are the 25mm or 37mm flavor, more useful for SWAT teams than anything else. --PaperCake 09:46, 4 December 2017 (EST)
