In 2013, Chicago Fire would introduce several characters that would go on to star in Chicago P.D., a spinoff series that follows officers in the Chicago Police Department. In 2015, Chicago Med, a hospital drama premiered that also is set in the same universe. All these series are being executive-produced by Dick Wolf, who is responsible for the series Law & Order and its spinoffs. The drama is set in the same universe as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, as evidenced by a Season 3 crossover episode with both Chicago P.D. and SVU.
