Introduction

Hi, thanks for sharing this piece of Japanese culture with us. I see the page is still 'under construction' but you may want to shorten the introduction a bit. The focus of this page is guns, not really on explaining the complete storyline, this can be found on pages like IMDB.com etc. How about below, where I took your text, deleted most lines but still keep an interesting story? Girl Und Panzer is an anime series taking place in alternate reality where tankery has become a form of sport. Sensha-dō, meaning the "way of the tank", has risen in popularity among women and has been running since the 1920s.

Enter Miho Nishizumi, a new transfer student to the Ōarai Girls' Academy. Coming from a family of distinguished Sensha-dō tradition, Miho and her friends commandeer the Panzer IV with her as the commander, Saori as the communicator, Hana as the gunner, Yukari as the loader, and Mako as the driver.

With the team organized, the biggest challenge now awaits Miho, bringing the no-name school of Ōarai into the championship of the 63rd National High School Sensha-Doō Tournament against other high-tier schools!

There's nothing wrong with what's there now, with the exception of "with Miho as the commander due to her experiences. Miho and her friends commandeer the Panzer IV with her as the commander" which is three repetitions of "command" in much too short a space. Evil Tim (talk) 10:41, 1 January 2015 (EST)
Fixed it, sentence seems more cohesive now.Inceptor57 (talk) 11:02, 1 January 2015 (EST)

I'm pretty sure there are shot of Pravada's tanks firing MGs during the battle, and I know Rabbit fires their M1919 during the final battle to get the Maus's attention.--Mandolin (talk) 13:13, 1 January 2015 (EST)

Couldn't find a very good one of the T-34s firing close-up so that'll have to do.Inceptor57 (talk) 15:01, 1 January 2015 (EST)

The Movie

So do we create a new page for the movie or no? Inceptor57 (talk) 18:11, 14 August 2015 (EDT)

I've been wondering the same. It seems unlikely there will be much that didn't appear in the anime; the Japanese-themed Chi-Ha Tan Academy with their Type 97 Chi-Has were in the anime (I'm in the process of adding them to the page now, and I think that's all we're missing), and (I can't remember if this was rumour or confirmed) there's a going to be a Finnish-themed team as well, but that's all I've heard. Unless the movie presents a really good reason to make a page for it, I think we should just add more pictures and a the couple new entries here; a movie page would be a massive list that's nearly a copy-paste. Panzer IV MGs

I'd like input from those with better knowledge of the subject than me; in this upcoming model display (let me know if the link doesn't work) we can see a standalone MG34, being held by K-ON!'s Yui Hirasawa of all people. Is it possible Anglerfish's MGs are MG34s? Alex T Snow (talk) 16:29, 27 August 2015 (EDT)

All German tanks uses the MG34 for their tank coaxial, bow mount machine guns because the later MG42's barrel change mechanism makes it hard to mount in this format (since you have to get a grip on the barrel shroud to open it, while the MG34 opens from near the receiver). I think it already says in the main page that Anglerfish's Panzer IV's machine guns are MG34s. Aside from that, that model looks awesomely detailed, but $200?! (25000 yen conversion). Inceptor57 (talk) 19:26, 27 August 2015 (EDT)
I... completely forgot they were already listed as MG34s on the page, goddamn, I feel stupid. xD Looking at them, that makes a lot of sense, cool. That is pretty expensive even though it's really nice; I recently picked up Turtle's gold 38(t) model kit for $25-ish, still need to build it. Also, they just recently built a full scale Panzer IV J replica and put it in Akihabara as a promo for the movie. Once we get some good pictures of it to use, it would make an interesting trivia entry, even though the MGs are replicas. Alex T Snow (talk) 00:30, 28 August 2015 (EDT)
I didn't know the movie was coming out already (8/29) O_O. Damn, that's a nice replica. Add in a working track system and an engine (if it doesn't have one already) and wham, a Panzer IV they could use for live shooting. Inceptor57 (talk) 04:03, 28 August 2015 (EDT)
Leave it to Japan for quality products, just like Howa-made AR-180 and their bolt action rifle. Johnny Akiba (talk) 18:30, 28 August 2015 (EDT)

If this was real?

Okay, forgetting the budgeting and safety things that goes on with motor sports, how good of an idea would it be if tankery becomes a form of sport?

Would be neat. Just imagine a Sherman covered with sponsorship decals like a NASCAR stock car. Aidoru (talk) 02:44, 24 January 2016 (EST)
