Child's Play (1988)

Child's Play is a 1988 US horror film written by Don Mancini and directed by Tom Holland (Fatal Beauty). The film centers around a dying serial killer who transfers his soul into a children's doll, which comes to call himself "Chucky". When the doll is bought by an unsuspecting single mother for her son, "Chucky" then continues the serial killer's ways. The cast included Catherine Hicks, Chris Sarandon and Brad Dourif.
