Right, I've got a full set of game images for this one now, just need to transfer them to my other PC to edit them since apparently Far Cry thinks one meg is a good size for a 1440x900 JPEG. Tim 01:39, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

  • And done! Dongs 04:39, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
The jokes in this article are awesome. Good Work Dongs.-Oliveira 12:37, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
Seconded, this is one of the best video game articles on the site. --MattyDienhoff 03:02, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

M4

Is it really? The screws that indicate a removable carry handle are missing. --MattyDienhoff 17:45, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Single action/Double action

Noticed this in the Desert Eagle section of the article. Can someone explain the difference to me? I'm not a gun expert, but kinda curious about it. Sentient6 13:59, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Single action is when you have to manually move the hammer every shot. Ever see a cowboy movie? notice how most of the guns you'll see (like the Single Action Army) has the hammer cocked before being fired. Double Action is when a firearm can have the hammer cocked by pulling the trigger, Take the Glock series of handguns for instance, see how they don't have an exposed hammer. This is just the basics, but hope this helped. --FirearmsNewbie 15:00, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, that made it perfectly clear, thanks a lot. That's pretty much what I thought of, but somehow the idea of manually cocking the Desert Eagle after every shot (like, as you mentioned, an old revolver) didn't sit well with me.. I thought I'd better confirm this. Anyways, thanks again for the info. Sentient6 17:51, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Single-action revolvers and semi-automatic pistols don't work the same way. A semi-auto requires manual cocking only before the first shot, the recoil handling the operation from there on. --Fin- 21:28, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Right then, this completely clears it. Thanks a lot to both of you =)Sentient6 00:16, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

G36

You know it has 4-vent K hand-guard right? - Mr. Wolf 17:01, 20 May 2011 (CDT)

Yeah, but it also has a non-carbine barrel sticking out of it, and I really wasn't sure what to label a gun that both is and isn't a carbine. So, um...Flip a coin, maybe? Tim's phone 18:49, 20 May 2011 (CDT)

This seems similar to what happened to the G36 in S.T.A.L.K.E.R except in reverse. - Mr. Wolf 21:05, 20 May 2011 (CDT)

I ought to go through this again sometime and get some more shots. Ones where I'm not obviously cheating, even. Evil Tim 05:47, 21 May 2011 (CDT)

lol, I wish I could but my game doesn't work, it won't let me install the patches, something to do with a directory error. :/ - Mr. Wolf 16:13, 21 May 2011 (CDT)

Flash grenades and Smoke grenades

Actually you got that wrong Tim, the Flash grenade icon is the rectangular flat green one, the Smoke grenade icon is Flash grenade icon filled in with white, if I remember right (love the game but can't play it cause of some kind of error :/). - Mr. Wolf 17:17, 20 May 2011 (CDT)

Yeah, my bad. I was just looking over this, realised I hadn't ID'd the grenades and used the manual for reference. The manual *does* show the flashbang as an M26. Tim's phone 18:51, 20 May 2011 (CDT)

two things

First, that's not an M4/M4A1, there are no rails or anything that would look like rails. They could have used actual M4A1 photos as reference or they could even have a real gun in their office when they modelled the gun, but they still forgot the most important part, so it cannot be the M4 ASSAULT WEAPON. The same mistake can be found on all of the counter strike pages which need to be fixed.
An 2nd, that is a G36K, cuz it has 4 vent holes like Mr. Wolf stated above. bozitojugg3rn4ut 18:00, 20 May 2011 (CDT)

Well, the G36 is a hybrid, but what should we call the M4-that-isn't? 727? Sporter Carbine? Evil Tim 05:30, 21 May 2011 (CDT)

Well, it looks like an M727 doesn't it? So it should be that. bozitojugg3rn4ut 06:48, 21 May 2011 (CDT)
The "M4" in Half-Life was a M727 too, so that's nothing new in video games. - Mr. Wolf 16:16, 21 May 2011 (CDT)
Yes, but on the Half-Life page it is listed as Model 727, however on the CS pages it still appears as M4. That's what I meant in the first line of mine, sorry if it wasn't clear. I'm just tryin' to say that in old (pre-2000) games probably there is no "real" M4A1, except of those with a flat-top. bozitojugg3rn4ut 16:27, 21 May 2011 (CDT)
Actually the CS M4A1 is a M4A1, the screws are visible, remember it is incorrectly mirrored, you can see the receiving bits for the nob and screws on the left side instead of the right side, so that means the nobs are now on the right side of the weapon, And the reason you can't see the rail is because, well, the Gold Source engine. Just look closely at the pics of it on CS page, you'll see. - Mr. Wolf 17:02, 21 May 2011 (CDT)

HD Remake

I know it's only just come out, but are there any plans to update this page to include the altered weapon models from the Far Cry Classic HD remake?--Leigh Burne (talk) 09:08, 12 February 2014 (EST)

There are some "new" guns I noticed in the HD version: the MP5SD3 was replaced with a suppressed MP5A3, the "M4" is now an actual M4A1 with railed handguard, the P90 was changed to a P90TR with a really stupid iron sight, the G36K has a C-type rail and red dot sight. - bozitojugg3rn4ut (talk) 02:04, 31 March 2014 (EDT)
It's also borked as hell because the weapons zoom like they have iron sights (rather than the old 727 getting like 4x zoom on its irons), the radar is the 30m one from Far Cry 3 rather than the 200m one the game thinks it has so you can't see anything, the enemies use the FC3 alert system, the visibility indicator is gone from the HUD, and they had to shove random walls into the middle of areas to slow you down so the game doesn't crash. And they called the G36 the AG36 but the model has a real, trademark-infringing HK logo on it! Evil Tim (talk) 04:05, 18 September 2014 (EDT)
Got some videos of it and they made some really weird errors; the MP5A3 has the receiver sides of an SEF trigger pack but a Navy fire selector, and for some reason they decided the auto marking should follow the diagonal raised part of the receiver side. Also they took out the AI frankengun being a heavy weapon, he runs normally with it now. Evil Tim (talk) 06:22, 6 January 2015 (EST)

MP5 Text

Why exactly does the MP5A3's entry claim that the weapon's 30-round capacity is "underloaded", and why does this have anything to do with the charging handle being pulled vs. being HK-slapped? I mean, I know that you can cram an extra round or 2 into an MP5 magazine, but that doesn't make it anything other than a 30-round magazine. Pyr0m4n14c (talk) 16:00, 1 July 2017 (EDT)
