8 Million Ways to Die The Last Detail Jeff Bridges as Matthew "Matt" Scudder, an LA Sheriff's Deputy whose career and family life are in shambles due to his alcohol addiction and a tragic shooting. He then finds himself unknowingly involved in an underground drug and prostitution ring. This was the final film directed by Ashby, and the screenplay was co-written by several well-known writers, including Oliver Stone .
