Ransom is a 1996 thriller directed by Ron Howard and stars Mel Gibson as an airline tycoon who finds that his son is kidnapped and sets off a dramatic set of circumstances when he turns the tables on the kidnappers. The film is actually a loose remake of a 1956 Glenn Ford film of the same name and cast includes Rene Russo, Gary Sinise, Lili Taylor, and Delroy Lindo.
The following weapons were used in the film Ransom (1996):
NYPD Detective Jimmy Shaker (Gary Sinise) carries a 2nd Generation Glock 19 as his sidearm throughout the film. Uniformed NYPD officers also are seen carrying Glocks.
Beretta 85BB
Detective Jimmy Shaker carries a Beretta 85BB as a backup gun, but only has it when going to Tom Mullen's house. At the end of the film, Tom Mullen (Mel Gibson) is seen brandishing it.

FBI Special Agent Lonnie Hawkins (Delroy Lindo) carries a Smith & Wesson 5943 short barrel variant as his sidearm in this film.
M1911A1

Revolvers
Smith & Wesson Model 10
Uniformed NYPD officers carry the Smith & Wesson Model 10 with the 4" Heavy Barrel. This would be correct for the time period. The NYPD had transitioned to semi-automatic handguns in 1993, but allowed those officers employed before the transition to continue to carry the revolver if they so desired.
FBI HRT members and NYPD ESU officers are seen armed with Heckler & Koch MP5A3s. They have mounted scopes, and some appear to be fitted with Surefire weaponlight forearms.
Shotguns
Ithaca 37
An NYPD ESU officer is seen armed with an Ithaca 37 shotgun with a tactical forelight mounted as the ESU clears a house.
Rifles
Ruger AC556 / Mini-14 GB
Another NYPD ESU officer is seen armed with a Ruger AC556 / Mini-14 GB as the ESU clears a house.
M16A2
FBI Special Agent Jack Sickler (Michael Gaston) is seen firing a M16A2 fitted with a night vision scope and tactical light from a helicopter during a shootout with one of the kidnappers.
