The film stars John Travolta as an officer with the US Army's Criminal Investigation Division who is assigned to a case involving the murder of the daughter of a renowned US Army General and whose body was found on an Army installation. The film was directed by Simon West , and the cast includes Madeleine Stowe , Timothy Hutton , James Woods , and James Cromwell .
