Fallout 3
The following guns were seen used in this post-apocalypical world. Most were just based from real life guns.
AK - "Chinese Assault Rifle"
One of the more powerful ARs in the game, but also not the most accurate. This rifle seems to be based on several AK variants. In the game, it was designed and manufactured by Chinese industrial conglomerate Norinco for the People's Liberation Army during the Resource Wars. This AK fires 5.56 NATO. It has the overall appearance of the AK family of weapons, specifically the AK-107 assault rifle (barrel, muzzle brake, gas tube, front sight), but also it is like the RPD machine gun (front handguard, possibly rear sight) and also the Type 56-II assault rifle, of actual Chinese production, although only for export, the metallic folding frame stock.
R91 Assault Rifle
An H&K G3 based assault rifle. The number in the name obviously references the H&K 91, and cosmeticlly, it looks like the Spanish CETME rifles, but the biggest thing is that, in game, this assault rifle firest 5.56 NATO like the AK in the game. Or it could have been modeled after the CETME B or L model which are chambered in 5.56. Ingame wise, the most likely reason for the same ammo as the AK was to not worry about different types of ammo for 2 assault rifles that are so common in the game.
Smith & Wesson Model 29
This was more of a reference to the Road Warrior movie since it has a scope attached to it. In the game, it fires, accurately, the .44 Magnum.
Shansei C96 Chinese Pistols
As the name implies, this is based on the Mauser C96 pistol, specificlly, the chinese version.
Sawed off Double Barrel shotgun
The second type of shotgun that can be used in game.
10mm SMG
The only submachinegun in the game, and it's outward appearance almost seems like it is based on the MP5K without the foregrip and a more boxy looking upper reciever.
Sniper rifle
Several verisons of the same design is used in the game. It's hard to tell what this rifle was based after, but it fires .308 rounds.
Combat Shotgun
This fictional shotgun has an overall appearence of the PPSh-41 from the fire selector switch located inside the trigger guard, the barrel's protruding muzzle-brake and the drum magazine. The way the reloading procedure is operated also points to the real PPSh-41, but this weapon acts more like an Armsel Striker shotgun
.32 Hunting Rifle
It is a Mauser-type bolt-action rifle, and resembles such the Remington 700 and Winchester 70 series. It uses the .32 Caliber Round. It is interesting to note that while this is a very accurate weapon, the in-game weapon model does not have rear or front sights, nor does it have a scope. In reality, this would make the weapon extremely difficult to aim at longer ranges and would render it almost totally worthless beyond close-range encounters, even to a skilled marksman.
Lincoln's Repeater
This weapon is based on Lincoln's Henry Rifle, a .44 caliber black powder cartridge (known as a.44 Henry round) rimfire rifle, although it has a wooden hanguard in front, very similar to a Winchester Model 1866. Though it would seem to be plausible to use .44 magnum ammunition in the rifle with slight modifications, the pressure from the modern cartridge would be far too much for the firing chamber to handle. The specific version, with it's engraved gold mounting, referenced in the game was given to President Lincoln by the Henry Rifle company in hopes that it would influence the purchase of the rifles for use in the civil war. Ingame, this rifle fired the same ammo as the .44 magnum revolver. For practicality of gaming, it was logiically for this rifle to fire the same rifle that is somewhat common to find instead of a completely different round all together.
