M60 tank
During their attack on the airport of Algiers, Legionnaires use a M60 Patton tank to crush a roadblock that has been set up by French troops who are trying to ensure a peaceful transition to independence.
Sherman tank
Several versions of the Sherman tank can be seen on a television newscast about the unrest in Algeria following the upcoming independence from France.
Are the screenshots of the Patton and Sherman tanks on the main page really necessary? I see no problem with mentioning what they are in passing if one appears in the background of a screenshot used to identify a firearm, but having a subsection with screenshots of the tanks just to say, "This is an M60 Patton battle tank", is out of IMFDB's scope, isn't it? That's more IMCDB's department and with the seemingly more widespread acceptance of having knives, bows, and whatnot on pages, it's starting to seem like IMFDB is taking a turn toward becoming the Internet Movie Props Database. :\ Spartan198 21:44, 9 April 2012 (CDT)
- Don't recall how long you've been a member Spartan198 but I think it's been at least back to 2009. During that time, Gun platforms are allowed on movie pages as long as the primary and secondary armament are identified. Those technically count as a 'gun' appearance. Gun platforms have been around nearly as long as IMFDB has existed. MoviePropMaster2008 23:44, 9 April 2012 (CDT)
- Not sure we have any more knives or bows than we used to (explosive bows are typically allowed, but that's about it). MPM has said it's ok for a page to have a "gun platforms" section at the bottom to identify military vehicles which carry weapons, though this isn't very common; see Red Dawn for an example of that. - Thanks for the comments, my apologies to mention the tanks on the gunpage. Was just trying to be complete, will take care next time, --PeeWee055 14:27, 10 April 2012 (CDT)
