"Assault Girls" is a 2009 Japanese film directed by Mamoru Oshii. A spin-off of Avalon, the film centers around four players who are chosen to beta test a new version of the virtual reality game.
The following weapons were used in the film Assault Girls:
Gray (Meisa Kuroki) carries a Walther PPK in a back holster. While of dubious value in an environment where high-caliber sniper rifles and grenade launchers are necessary, it makes sense as a close-in back up to her single-shot rifle.
Custom FN FAL
Colonel (Hinako Saeki) carries a heavily customized FN FAL Paratrooper. It is fitted with a dot sight, the handguard of an M60 machine gun, and an M203. In-game, it seems that the weapon has a bottomless magazine, as she never reloads.
M203 grenade launcher
Colonel's FN FAL is fitted with an M203 grenade launcher. Unlike the FAL it is fitted to, it must be reloaded after each shot and has limited ammunition, forcing the user to retreat and buy more ammunition.
Iver Johnson AMAC-1500
Gray (Meisa Kuroki) carries an Iver Johnson AMAC-1500 when not flying her jet. As it is a single-shot weapon that forces the user to completely remove to bolt to reload, it is probaly the cheapest and lowest-tier .50 BMG rifle in the game.
Custom Antimaterial Rifle
Jäger carries a massive anti-material rifle in the game. While not based off any real-world weapon, it still merits inclusion on the page.. In-game, it is mentioned that he poured all of his points into the weapon, resulting in a high-caliber weapon with an advanced sight that links via cable to a monocle. The muzzle brake is efficient enough to allow accurate and rapid firing even from the hip, though the muzzle flash is best described as apocalyptic. However, due to his massive overspecialization, he is forced to walk everywhere while carrying the massive rifle, lacking a mount like other players.
Phalanx Close-In Weapon System with M197 Vulcan
For the final battle, Colonel buys a mech fitted with an autocannon from the game store . It resembles the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System, though it has a three-barrelled cannon mounted that is reminiscent of the M197. It is also a CGI effect since no real weapons system was used.
