Clear and Present Danger is the 1994 follow-up to 1992's Patriot Games that once again stars Harrison Ford as CIA analyst Jack Ryan. In order to the avenge the assassination of his close friend, the President of the United States covertly declares war on the Colombian Drug Cartel Lindo. When Admiral James Greer (James Earl Jones) is diagnosed with cancer, CIA analyst Jack Ryan (Harrison Ford) assumes the position Acting Deputy Director Intelligence of the CIA. There, he is misled to believe that there will be a "no-troops" enforcement for aiding Colombia. Instead, Robert Ritter, the CIA Deputy Director of Operations, employs former CIA operative John Clark (Willem Dafoe) to lead a Special Ops team to take out Cartel targets in Colombia. When the team is betrayed and Ryan discovers the lies, he heads to Colombia to rescue the surviving members. The Jack Ryan character would appear in three other movies: Patriot Games, The Hunt for Red October and The Sum of All Fears.
