Knives
Reichsarbeitsdienst Dagger
When Erik disarmed a former SS soldier and snatches what appears to be the Reichsarbeitsdienst dagger from his grasp, he briefly examined the engraving of the dagger, which reads "Blut und Ehre" ("Blood and Honor" in German). This is inaccurate as this is the motto of the Hitler Youth. The correct engraving would be "Arbeit Adelt," which is German for "Work Ennobles." Erik later draws it out when he confronts Shaw on his yacht.
- Seriously, that is one of the least anachronistic things in this abomination of historical inaccuracy... MoviePropMaster2008 13:21, 21 September 2011 (CDT)
- Surely all that proves is that the character in question was in the Hitlerjugend at some point. The Wierd It 15:56, 21 September 2011 (CDT)
That isn't a Hitler Youth, SS or any armed forces knife. Judging from the emblem at the top of the grip it is in fact a knife inspired by or a derivative of the Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD, basically the German auxiliary labour force) Officer knife. The incorrect part is that it has the Hitler Youth motto rather than the RAD motto of "Arbeit Adelt" (work ennobles). Regardless, it isn't a real WW2 weapon as the motto is deeply engraved rather than etched on the surface. "Blut und Ehre" is however probably the best of all the mottos engraved on the Nazi daggers, so that is probably why it was chosen. Has been a while since I saw this, but was this guy actually identified as former SS rather than just a Nazi? --commando552 16:21, 21 September 2011 (CDT)
- I fixed the page and added the information from your comment into the knife section. - Kenny99 22:11, 21 September 2011 (CDT)
NR-40
In a a deleted extended scene of Erik's attack on the Soviet palace guards, a Soviet guard is seen holding what appears to be the Soviet NR-40 combat knife before Erik uses his metal-controlling abilities to impale the guard with it.
Discussion
Released
I just saw the movie today, there were several M1 Garands, an M1911A1 (normal finish, not stainless like in the TV spot) used by Xavier and Erik; MP40s, Kar98Ks (or similar rifles), a Luger P08, and an MG42 all appeared in the opening scene; a few AKMs were in the hands of some Soviet guards, and M16s and unknown XM177-series rifles were used by US personell throughout the film. I'd add it to the main page but I don't have any screencaps and the "unreleased" template is still up. MrOshimida27 01:19, 4 June 2011 (CDT)
I just made a correction about the CAR-15s and the M16 being anachronistic. Excalibur01 23:35, 4 June 2011 (CDT)
Anyone catch what pistol the Division X agents used in the attack? It looked odd, to me, sort of like a short barrelled Mauser C96. --commando552 12:17, 8 June 2011 (CDT)
- I have no idea at all. Looked like a CZ75 (not sure as the shots were quick) with a spare magazine in front or something. Anyway, I am heading out tomorrow to buy X-Men: First Class on Blu-Ray and will screencap if I can. - Kenny99 22:28, 8 September 2011 (CDT)
Wrong AK Chest POuches
Soviet Soldiers in that theater of operations would NOT be using the AK Chest pouch. They would be using the standard Post War AK Webbing gear (rubberized leather) with a canvas AK ammo pouch on their belts. Also those AK Chest pouches were CHINESE AK Chest pouches. Only Asian made AK chest pouches have that Chinese style wooden torpedo shaped "frog button". The European Chest pouches had lit the dot snaps like the M1 Garand 10 pocket ammo belt. I did like the fact that they still used the circa 1950s gimnasterka style tunics and not the post 1964 "Red Dawn" style shirts.
Anachronisms all over the place
All the fashions were straight out of the late 1960s and 1970s. Which is wrong for 1962. Remember this is BEFORE anyone heard of the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. And the hairstyles for the most part was just wrong. :( MoviePropMaster2008 00:16, 7 June 2011 (CDT)
- Look at the bright side. It's more accurate than Call of Duty: Black Ops. :P. --Swordfish941 01:55, 7 June 2011 (CDT)
At least, the movie did not have anachronistic WASR-2-looking AK-47, weapons that are not standard-issue for Soviet and U.S. soldiers at that time (such as the Walther MPL and the Famas [which is obviously anachronistic]), old-style pistols in place of the modern pistols inaccurately placed in the 1960s, or an MP5k prototype in the Cuban Missile Crisis period before an MP5 prototype was built. - Kenny99 22:34, 8 September 2011 (CDT)
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine had way more anachronisms than this movie. - Mr. Wolf 22:40, 8 September 2011 (CDT)
Yup. At least X-Men: First Class is more accurate. I got annoyed by the Beretta 92FS Inox appearing in the 1970s and a bunch of 1990s weapons in the 1970s in Wolverine. - Kenny99 23:22, 8 September 2011 (CDT)
- You know X-Men Wolverine was so anachronistic, I seriously didn't comprehend what time period it was. LOL! If that was the 1970s, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell! :D MoviePropMaster2008 01:58, 9 September 2011 (CDT)
- "I got annoyed by the Beretta 92FS Inox appearing in the 1970s" Actually those were Taurus PT92s, which themselves were not made until the 80s, just making a correction. And yes, for the love of God a G36K in the 1970s! Suriously! They must of gotten Treyarch as their weapon advisers for that movie! - Mr. Wolf 03:53, 9 September 2011 (CDT)

- Hmm...interesting as both feature modern CAR-15 rifles out of place (the Commando resembling two assault rifles made in the 1990s). Also, the M16A1s in X-Men: First Class should have been M14s. - Kenny99 05:50, 21 September 2011 (CDT)
- I think you meant the M1 Grand, the BAR was never used as an service rifle from my knowledge. - Mr. Wolf 20:15, 21 September 2011 (CDT)
Not CAR-15s
The CAR-15s in this film are fitted with forward assists, brass deflectors and flat top rails fitted with A2 type carrying handles, so they are very anachronistic. Colt Sporters don't have any of this either, closest match would be a Colt Model 933 with flash hider changed. --commando552 11:32, 9 September 2011 (CDT)
- So they used Colt Model 933s as stand-ins for CAR-15s, they also used M16A1s as stand-ins for M16 SP1s. - Mr. Wolf 23:06, 9 September 2011 (CDT)
- I just looked at the M16s closer and I think they're MGC M16 Model Guns. - Mr. Wolf 01:44, 10 September 2011 (CDT)
Are you sure those are 933s? If the carrying handles aren't removable, then they are 733s and I see X177 flash hiders and long thin barrels on one rifle. I couldn't see the knobs on the left sides of the carrying handles Excalibur01 15:51, 10 September 2011 (CDT) So what can't we just call them assorted AR-15 carbines? Excalibur01 15:51, 10 September 2011 (CDT)
- Look at the three rifles on the left, you can see the brackets for the removable carry handle. No way of knowing if they are 933 or any of a dozen other rifles with the barrel cut off and a fake XM177E1 type flash-hider, but 933 are the closest match. --commando552 16:35, 10 September 2011 (CDT)
- Not only do the rifles on the left all have removable carry handles, but you can see that the front two also have the 6-position LE stock (which is yet another anachronistic feature). I think Wolf and Commando are right - the show's armorers probably took several Colt Model 933s, removed the A1 birdcage flash hiders (which is what most armorers use even on modern AR variants), and stuck on fake XM177 flash hiders. Therefore, the best description for these weapons is "Colt Model 933 (mocked up as XM177E1)". -MT2008 18:23, 10 September 2011 (CDT)
Pistol
Can someone help identify this pistol? There are only a few good shots of it. - Kenny99 20:44, 13 September 2011 (CDT)
I watched the movie today and looking at these photos it looks to be a Bergmann-Bayard model pistol with the magazine in front of the trigger, i recall seeing one of Shaw's minions pick it up and it appears to have a curved grip only further making me think it is a Bergmann-Bayard.
I would almost say that it's an Intratec Tec22. Rockwolf66 21:37, 13 September 2011 (CDT)
- Close, but the ejection port on a Tec22 is on the side as opposed to this pistol which has in on the top edge of the frame. --commando552 04:31, 14 September 2011 (CDT)
