Heckler & Koch XM25
The Heckler & Koch XM25 Individual Airburst Weapon System is a semiautomatic airbursting grenade launcher spun off from work on the grenade launcher module of the terminated Heckler & Koch XM29 Objective Individual Combat Weapon project, developed by Heckler & Koch and Alliant Techsystems. Currently undergoing field testing in Afghanistan with the 101st Airborne Division who have nicknamed it the "Punisher," it is expected to enter series production by the end of 2011 with the US Army intending to procure 12,500 launchers. A high-velocity 25x59mm version of the 25x40mm round originally developed for the XM307 is also intended for use in Barrett's XM109 OSW "Payload Rifle."
