9th Company (9 POTA) is a 2005 Russian language film about a group of Soviet vets in the mountains of Afghanistan, during the Afghan-Russo War (1979-1989). The story deals with idealistic young soldiers who are fighting a desperate battle against the Mujahideen fighters.
The weapons seen in this movie are:
AKS-74
Used by almost all Soviet and Mudjahideen.
AK74 & BG15 launcher
Used by several of the main characters including Lt. Pogrebnyak. The Grenade Launcher was first introduced in the 1980s and was referred to as the BG15. A later updated version would be the GP-25 and the latest incarnation, the GP-30 (which is much lighter in weight).
PK machine gun
Several 9th Company soldiers use the PKM: Chugainov is given Samyilin's old gun, which was disfigured by a hand grenade explosion. He can be seen in on scene trying to sight it to fire at a rock 3m away. One of the main characters grab's his PKM's barrel to bash a Mujahideen with it, receiving 3rd degree burns. The main character picks up the previous character's PKM after he is killed and uses in the scene after Sparrow's suicide.
Yakushev-Borzov YakB-12.7 machine gun
Used by the Mi-25 helicopters
in fact the helicopter is a Mi24 P series, armed with GSh-30K dual 30mm side fixed auto gun, known to us as a "Hind-E" or "Hind-F"
Dragunov SVD
Given to Petrovsky, who is an excellent marksman through painting.
DShK 12.7mm
One is given to 9th Company, while others can be seen at the various military bases on top of military vehicles.
NSV heavy machine gun
NSV machine gun are used by the soldiers of the 9th company
RPG-7
Used by the Mudjahideen alongside LAWs to attack the 9th Company.
ZU-23
Seen on Soviet vehicles.
