Hard Boiled
(NOTE: I know the screenshots from the movie on this page are of very poor quality; they're taken from a Mandarin-language VHS tape that I borrowed from my college library and then copied to DVD. The good news is that I finally bought the newest DVD edition of this movie, so I hope to upload new higher-quality screenshots. Since there are almost 30 guns listed on this page, I haven't yet found the time to sit down and re-do everything, but I hope to get it done in the coming weeks. Hope you all still enjoy the page in the meantime. -MT2008)
The following guns can be seen in Hard Boiled:
Norinco Type 54 (Tokarev TT-33)
Two Norinco Type 54 pistols (Chinese-made versions of the Tokarev TT-33) are used by Inspector Tequila Yuen (Chow Yun-Fat) during the opening shootout at the teahouse. He acquires these pistols when he smashes open a bird cage in which the pistols are being concealed by Hong Kong arms dealers selling them to customers in the teahouse (the dealer specifically refers to them as Chinese-made guns).
Tokarev TT-33s (or the Norinco copies) also appear numerous other times in the movie in the hands of Johnny Wong's (Anthony Wong's) thugs, and Alan (Tony Leung) carries a stainless version early in the hospital scene when he and Tequila are searching for Wong's arms cache (he tries to shoot Mad Dog with it). Teresa Chang (Tersea Mo) also uses one to kill a gangster during the hospital shootout after he slaps her.
Ruger GP100
Tequila's sidearm which he carries throughout the movie is a blued-steel Ruger GP100 with a four inch barrel. In the warehouse scene, he attempts to kill Alan with it, only to discover he's fired off all six chambers(despite infact firing 10 shots throughout the scene). He later opens the gun and knocks out the empty shells in frustration.
Davis P-32
A .32 ACP Davis P-32 pistol fitted with a homemade suppressor is used by Alan to kill a traitor in his boss's organization. One of the detectives investigating the murder specifically refers to the weapon as a "Davis .32", indicating that it is definitely the P-32 and not the P-380 model (which looks very similar, but chambered for the larger-caliber .380 cartridge). The P-32 is hidden in a hollowed-out volume of Shakespeare plays in a library and then returned to this book after the execution has been completed.
Taurus PT92
Although Hard Boiled is known as a film which prominently features the Beretta 92F (like many Chow Yun-Fat and John Woo movies), it is actually the Taurus PT92, the Brazilian imitation of the Beretta 92F, which is most frequently seen in the movie. You can tell when they're Tauruses because they have the frame-mounted safety, whereas the Beretta has a slide-mounted safety. Taurus PT92s are wielded by Inspector Tequila, by Tony Leung as Alan during his undercover work, and by many of Johnny Wong's thugs.
Beretta 92FS
The Beretta 92F is used in some scenes throughout the movie (but is not nearly as common as the Brazilian Taurus PT92 which is commonly mistaken for it). Alan attempts to pull a Beretta on Tequila during the scene where Tequila confronts him on his boat, but Tequila takes it and later uses it in a shootout on the dock. Tequila also has another Beretta 92F during the hospital shootout after he gives his stainless Taurus PT92 to Alan in the elevator (where he gets this pistol is a mystery - both he and Alan were only seen taking PT92s from the arms cache while equipping themselves to take on Johnny Wong's thugs).
Steyr GB
Alan uses a Steyr GB pistol during the shootout on his boat, although when he takes the gun out of its hiding place, it appears to be a Beretta or Taurus-type pistol (a continuity error, undoubtedly).
Colt Detective Special
The Colt Detective Special in .38 Special is the standard sidearm of the Hong Kong police in the movie. In the hospital scene, while encouraging his men to shoot at the police surrounding the hospital, Johnny Wong mockingly points out that, "A cop's just a human being with a gun, he's not immortal. They've got guns, we've got guns, too. But they just have .38s [sic]." In a moment of irony, as Alan frees himself from his hostage situation, Tequila eliminates the villain with a single shot to the head from a patrolman's two-inch Colt Detective Special.
Thompson Arms Contender
The Thompson Arms Contender single-shot pistol is used by Philip Kwok as Mad Dog when Tequila and Alan raid Johnny Wong's arsenal.
CZ75
The CZ75 is used by many of Johnny Wong's thugs throughout the movie, including Philip Kwok as Mad Dog during the hospital shootout. Mad Dog sets his down in the hospital shootout when he prepares to fight Alan hand-to-hand.
Glock 17
The Glock 17 pistol is used by several of Johnny Wong's thugs throughout the movie. One is being unloaded during an early scene at the arsenal.
Micro Uzi
Another weapon which is commonly seen in the movie is the Micro Uzi machine pistol. The body guard with whom Tequila exchanges gunfire (and finally kills) in the teahouse shootout uses one of these weapons, as do many of Johnny Wong's thugs. Alan uses one in the warehouse scene to execute his old boss's men. And Johnny Wong himself uses one to cut down the patients standing between him and Alan during the hospital shootout before his massacre is stopped by Mad Dog.
Mossberg M590
The Mossberg M590 series shotguns makes several appearances in the movie. A nickel-plated, pistol-grip version is used by Tequila during the warehouse shootout, in one instance to blow up a motorcycle. Later, Tequila gets ahold of a full-stock blued Tactical model with a heat shield, which he uses throughout the hospital shootout (in some cases, he manages to kill two bad guys simultaneously with only one shot!)
- I believe the first shotgun he uses is a Mossberg 500 "Crusier" shotgun, not to be confused with the smaller Mossberg 590 "Compact Crusier". The mag tube cover looks more like a 500 type, not a 590 type as well. I won't change it though without your permission. It means your one gun closer to beating the top 3 pages. Alienqueen. -Gunmaster45
Remington 870
Compact versions of the Remington 870 shotgun are used by the hitmen sent to kill Alan on his boat. Full-size 870s are also used by the Hong Kong police officers sent to the hospital.
MAC-10/11
The MAC-10 as well as the smaller MAC-11 are used by many of Johnny Wong's thugs in the film. When Johnny Wong's men raid the arms warehouse, many (including Mad Dog) use MACs fitted with suppressors.
AKMSU
Mad Dog (Philip Kwok) uses an AKMSU compact assault rifle during the scene in the arsenal (with magazines "jungle-taped" together), which he tries to use to kill Tequila and Alan with no regard for the fact that he risks destroying the weapons and ammunition stored in the arsenal.
AKM
Some of Johnny Wong's thugs use Norinco Type 56 (Chinese copies of the AKM and AKMS) assault rifles throughout the movie. Many of these weapons are seen being loaded into crates during the scene in the warehouse. Tequila also tries to use an unloaded AK to strangle Mad Dog during the fight in Johnny Wong's arsenal.
M16A1
The M16A1 makes several appearances in the movie, in the hands of Johnny Wong's men as well as the Hong Kong police officers who arrive at the hospital scene. Mad Dog uses an M16A1 fitted with an M203 grenade launcher in the hospital shootout, which he uses effectively against the Hong Kong SDU as well as Alan and Tequila.
Calico M960
A Calico M960 submachine gun is used by Alan during the hospital shootout.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
The Heckler & Koch MP5A3 appears numerous times in the movie, mostly in the hands of Johnny Wong's thugs. Tequila uses one during his one-man assault on the warehouse (firing it at Johnny Wong's men as he repels down from the roof of the warehouse), and both Tequila and Alan use an MP5A3 during the hospital shootout. MP5A3s are also used by the Hong Kong SDU (Special Duties Unit) team which is deployed in the hospital.
Heckler & Koch MP5K
The smaller MP5K also appears in the film, used by both Johnny Wong's thugs and the Hong Kong SDU team.
Beretta PM12S
The Beretta PM12S is used by at least one of Johnny Wong's thugs during the hospital shootout.
Kimel AP-9
A Kimel AP-9 is used by one of Johnny Wong's thugs who gets shot by Teresa Chang after he slaps her during the hospital shootout.
Jatimatic
A Jatimatic submachine gun is among the weapons visible on the table in Johnny Wong's arsenal during the scene where his henchmen are working on the guns.
Ruger Super Redhawk
A stainless Ruger Super Redhawk .44 magnum with Nikon scope(usually standard with the gun, but more commonly stainless) and a 9.5" barrel is seen sitting under the Jatamatic.
- I ought to know, I own one 100% exactly like that. (sory to brag, anyone who wants can delete this.)-Gunmaster45
- Thanks! I've added a higher-quality screenshot.
- Also, a CZ-75, a G3 type gun, and an AKS-74U are visible. More guns to add to the page seperatley and you'll beat number 3 on the top three, Last Action Hero. -Gunmaster45
- That's actually the AKMSU that Mad Dog uses later, so I won't make a separate entry for that one. However, the other guns on the table (which haven't been given their own entries) include a CAR-15 variant, a Franchi PA3, a G3 or HK91, a Steyr AUG, and a PT92C (which probably doesn't need a separate entry from PT92, above). Plus, there's a Mini-14 which appears later in the film (the gun that Tequila uses to strangle Mad Dog alternates between that and an AKM), and I'm probably going to separate M203 out of the M16A1 entry. Oh, yeah, and there's also a shot of Johnny Wong leaning against a desk with a display rack of pistols is behind him, and that presents the possibility of yet MORE guns to identify. Man, soooo much work to do.

Mossberg M500 Bullpup
The Mossberg 500 Bullpup is used by several of Johnny Wong's thugs during the hospital scene.
Norinco Type 86
One of the more unusual weapons to appear in the film is the Norinco Type 86, a Chinese-manufactured bullpup version of the AK-47/AKM. It is used by many of Johnny Wong's thugs during the hospital scene.
DAO-12 "Street Sweeper" shotgun
At the end of the film, Johnny Wong is seen wielding a DAO-12 "Street Sweeper" (an American copy of the South African-made Armscor Striker) shotgun in the hospital showdown, which he uses first to kill Mad Dog for disobeying orders, and then to shoot at Alan and Tequila.
Heckler & Koch P7
In the final confrontation of the movie, Johnny Wong comes out of the hospital holding Alan hostage with a Heckler & Koch P7 pistol (either the M8 or the higher-capacity M13). He is killed by Tequila, who shoots him through his eye with a Colt Detective Special when Alan distracts him.
M60E3
An M60E3 light machine gun is seen atop a crate in Johnny Wong's arsenal.
M72 LAW
When the police surround the hospital, several of Johnny Wong's thugs begin firing at their cruisers with M72 LAW rocket launchers. Many of these launchers are also seen on racks in the arsenal.
