The Accuracy International Arctic Warfare series of rifles can be seen in the following films, television series, and video games used by the following actors:


NOTE: IMFDB really needs someone who is good with the AW rifles and can tell the more subtle variants apart from each other - i.e. L96 from AW and AWM, AWP from AICS, etc. This page was crap before, treating every AW variant as if it were the L96 (which is the British service version) and eschewing the other variants. However, I don't know enough about the platform to tell them apart, and distinguish between them all in the movies where they appear. So anyone who wants to help out, please do. Thanks. -MT2008


Accuracy International Arctic Warfare

Accuracy International AW 7.62x51mm NATO

Also known as the L96A1 in British military service; This model is the basis for the Arctic Warfare series of tactical rifles and is currently produced in calibers .243 Win and 7.62x51mm NATO and normally fitted with a 660mm (26") match grade barrel for accurate long range performance. The .243 Win has a 1 in 10 twist and the 7.62x51mm NATO has a 1 in 12.

The 7.62x51mm NATO version AW is fitted with a muzzle brake which serves to reduce recoil and muzzle flip. The AW is normally supplied with a 10-round box magazine. Both versions are housed in either olive drab or black stock panels and black metalwork. Butt length can be adjusted by fitting spacers to suit the shooter.

The "Arctic Warfare Magnum"; Based on the AW rifle with minimal changes to accommodate Magnum length cartridges. Detachable box magazine which takes 5 rounds. Normal calibers are .300 Winchester Magnum and .338 Lapua Magnum. Designated L115A1 Long Range Rifle within the British military, the latter as the Arctic Warfare Super Magnum or L115A3 LRR. It is described by Guiness World Records to be the most advanced sniper rifle and was used by Cpl. Craig Harrison of the British Army to establish a new record distance for a confirmed kill shot in Afghanistan in November 2009, surpassing the previous record held by a McMillan TAC-50 fired by Cpl. Rob Furlong of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Accuracy International Arctic Warfare Police

Accuracy International AWP

The "Arctic Warfare Police", The AWP rifle has a stiffer and shorter 610mm (24") barrel to maximise precision. Usual calibres are .243 Win (1 in 10 twist) and .308 Win (1 in 12 twist). The rifle is designed to perform best with match-grade ammunition. Butt length can be adjusted to suit the firer by using spacers. The AWP differs to other models, in that it's the only AW weapon system to have a black finish.

The biggest, largest-caliber variant of the Arctic Warfare rifles, chambered in .50 BMG. The "F" model, designed for the Australian military, differs in that it has a folding stock and a Madco barrel.
